got up this morning, and checked my bank account... my paycheck was supposed to be deposited today.... NOPE, NOT THERE... email from work saying due to some "unknown' error, it wasn't deposited, maybe tomorow.... WTF????, So i tell the boss that if its not there when its time for me to leave for work tomorrow that i won't be there because i wont' have enough gas.... AND HE TELLS ME...
it will be considered a no show / unexcused absence and i will face disciplinary action..

I don't know your work situation, so I don't know how precarious your job is. If you aren't worried about being fired, then I would tell your boss that you are reporting the situation to the Fair Labor board because you aren't getting paid for work already done.
I would also be calling the bank asking about this 'unknown' error. Sometimes these things do happen due to computer glitches...but sometimes an employer doesn't have enough money in their account to cover payroll. Your employer should be communicating with it's employees about this situation. You can't be the only employee who is living paycheck to paycheck and who expected money to be there today.
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

I agree 100% w/Kelsey. If nothing is done I would report him. You work, you need to be paid.

They can't even write you up technically if you call in since the one they are trying to rely upon is "no show no call" and if that is done 3 times in a row it is considered "job abandonment". Before you go calling the Labor Board make sure you have the following info correct: What day and time is your actual "pay day". I know with direct deposit you can sometimes get them in early. For instance technically our "pay day" is 5:00 pm on Friday's but if you have direct deposit your money is usually in your account by 9:00 am (If you have a credit union they sometimes don't get them showing up until the branch locations open - yeah I know it is strange but I have seen it on my own account). I am willing to bet if you check your employee manual it will state something like the end of business or a time on a specific day of the week and that can be changed due to holidays.

Is the boss the owner? How large is this company?
Before you go off half cocked and start making enemies and difficulties for yourself, take a breath. Jobs are not all that easy to come by.
This delay could have been from one of a million reasons and some may be way beyond their control and may be inconvenient and costly to them as well. I would be cautious before you shoot your mouth off and make all kinds of threats.
With that said, yes, you work, you need to get paid. Yes, many people live pay check to paycheck....even for those who don't, they still need to be paid on time too. Yes, it is very inconvenient when deposits are not made on time. You do have a right to be upset, but be mature and calm, you'll be more respected and appreciated for it in the long run. Absolutely let them know that you do need your salary to get yourself to work and this delay is creating hardships for you and possibly extra expenses. Sugar & vinegar, you know which one the fly will go to.
If this becomes a habit for them or this appears to be the writing on the wall....make sure you have everything well documented. Always keep your options open and your eye out for better and more secure opportunities.
By no means am I implying to let them off the hook, but it is in your best interests not to fly off the handle prematurely without knowing what is going on.
I hope this was just a bank error and that your deposit has been made in your account already.

Both SLance and pepperpot make excellent points in their posts. That's why I mentioned that I didn't know how precarious your job was. There could be very valid reasons for pay to be delayed. So much is done systematically that it's not unheard of for glitches to occur.
However, I was particularly surprised at the response you got from your boss. He turned the situation around so that you were the once potentially in the wrong.

what happened was the payroll officer forgot to hit the "send" button to put our checks in the bank.... we are always paid on wednesday mornings...... i'm just mad cause i had like 2.00 left to my name... but my child support should be here tomorrow and my check is supposed to be there in the morning... I'm mad..but i'm hoping to leave this job soon....i had an interview yesterday, and they already assigned me my parking pass and did all my paperwork, just waiting on board approval, drug test and back ground to come back... and i have it...so i'm just biding my time.....
thanks ya'll...... i fell sorry for the ones who tried to use their debit cards and got declined today... i'm so glad i checked before i went to town

Just always leave on good terms and don't burn your bridges, no matter how tempting it may be.
Glad it was just someone's error, I'm sure they feel really bad about it and are probably getting lots of flack.

and as for her feeling bad.... anyone thats tried to talk to her about it... she tries to act like its our fault.. she tells us that if we were "responsible" we would still have money... course she's paid alot better than us and has a husband who makes big bucks....so she doesn't understand what its like to NEED the money...

I'm sorry - it is none of her business how you spend your money, responsibly or not ... it is money you earned ... worked for ... and they are contracted to PAY you as agreed. PERIOD. Sorry that this is going on... very frustrating... we are doing okay ... but we live mostly paycheck to paycheck too.
