Found out my credit card number was stolen online
Got call yesterday from my credit card that lot of charges were being made and when they try to charge over $9,000 that when they call me and told me that someone got my credit card number. I made purchase Monday at Logitech.com to buy cooling pad for my laptop and after that its when the charges started. I call Logitech they were not helpful and don't thank it happen on their webiste but was told by customer service that their web site had crash because they had over 6,000 orders because of the half off coupon code. I haven't used that credit card in over month last time I used at Home Depot and Target it doesn't have much credit on it so lucky for that. I file police report so hopefully will find out from my credit card how it got stolen. So if you go online to order be careful if used credit card and also if you have order lately at Logitech made what to check your credit card. I been buying stuff online for over 10 years used Amazon lot this has never happen before.

That happened to me twice. Once the person charged so much that the bank refused the charges, we/the bank closed those cards and got new ones. The other time, I didn't know until I got the CC bill that someone used it to skype, overseas. The CC took the charges off and issued me a new card.

I have a "reloadable" card for online purchases ... that way if it is stolen then there is a limit to it and it is in no way connected to the rest of my information.

You might want to check your credit reports in a month or so to make sure there are no new cards issued. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com which is the free one from the government. I would check all three if possible.

I doubt very much that your CC was stolen from the Logitech website... You would be well advised to run every scan you can think of on your computer. It only takes one accidental click or opened email to get it sick. I've had mine stolen before, we think from someone we know due to where the charges were made... they immediately took the charges off and issued new cards. We asked them if they will file a police report or if we should. They said for us not to do it, just to sign a release so they could... but they never did to our knowledge.

www.annualcreditreport.com this is the one set up by the government and is truly free. You can get your FICO score but it costs money. If you want your FICO score go to www.suzeorman.com and use her FICO score kit.

You can also put a freeze on your credit. So if anyone attempts to open a line of credit in your name/SS, they will call you to verify before they open the line of credit.

That happened to me last winter. Luckily the CC company noticed the charges and stopped them. The CC company told me the crooks take random numbers and try them until they get one that works, then they use it as long as they can. Maybe it wasn't scammed but was just bad luck.

The problem with that is it costs money to freeze all of your reports and then you have to unfreeze/freeze them every time you want to access your account.
