Ever had a weekend from HELL??????

Aggie and I did this past weekend. First off, on Friday at around 4:45 our a/c decides to go out. Living in Houston (outskirts) gets really hot. It's 85 today and getting hotter. Everyone was booked up over the weekend so no one could come out to fix the a/c. Hopefully the guy will be here sometime today....I'M HOPING. MEN ON PAUSE ISN'T HELPING THE SITUATION TO MUCH AROUND HERE.

Saturday Aggie and I decided to go out someplace to try and stay cool for a few hours. Went to a movie. As we were pulling into our parking space a young guy w/a gun demanded that we both get out of the car and he took off with it and everything in it. There were witnesses to the entire ordeal. When the cops showed up they didn't seem to believe the story. Called ins. co. today and are waiting on a call for the claim.

In 10 years of marriage I can tell you this has absolutely been the worst 3 days of our married lives. On top of that Aggie wants me to cook. I'M NOT TURNING ON ANY OVEN, STOVE. Crockpot, microwave, take-out will work...but that's it. He's not going for it.

Hopefully we can get a car by the end of the week and a/c repair person will show up today. I SERIOUSLY CAN'T TAKE MUCH MORE. I'm to damn hot and can't go/get anywhere.

Sorry to be so long. Thanks

Wow - glad that you two are Ok. I would have been freaking out over the gun wielding thief. Wish you lived closer I would send a A/C guy over to you. I can understand them being booked solid - our guys have been working from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm every day for the past 2 weeks. Needless to say they are getting pretty grouchy but they do quit complaining when I give them their paychecks.

You've got to be kidding???? I hope. Aggie wouldn't touch a salad if his life depended on it. I will/would anyday. I'm ordering Pizza Hut or Chinese. Aggie can deal with it. A/C guy is here now...hopefully cool air in awhile. Let's hope, anyway. Still waiting on State Farm to call back....hopefully w/good news about the car claim.

I was on the inside for the most part. Needless to say we didn't see a movie on Saturday and it took us around 4 hours to get 6 miles home. Aggie wouldn't take a bus, cab. All our friends were out for the evening. Finally got a hold of my brother (he was out, too) but he came and picked us up.

Well I say Aggie needs a knock on his noggin for not taking the bus or a cab. I am so thankful that you both are unharmed (physically at least). I am a pro at handling State Farm - they will give you "fair market value" for your car - trust me that is a good thing. Fair market value is more than you could get for it if you were trading it in or selling it privately. If you have rental coverage on your policy you should be able to get a rental car until they settle the claim and then for a few days afterward (I think it is 2 weeks). Also make sure you take the keys you have for the vehicle with you when you go to pick up your settlement - I had to go back and get them after my last accident in 2008 (the agent had me drop them off a couple of days later). They have been really easy for me to deal with. Now purchasing a new car - that is a pain in the rear. Thankfully I have friends in the car industry so I just go in and haggle them to death until they give in and send me to their boss to deal with and I end up getting what I want for the price I want.

Thank you for the information. We're waiting on some kind of paperwork and phone call from the underwriters. We have full coverage on the car. I wouldn't have it any other way living/driving in Houston and being disabled. Thank you for your concern. I'm so glad neither one of us were hurt and Aggie kept his "composure" thru it all. I could just see him getting into a haggle w/this young guy and getting shot right in the parking lot. I'm just thankful we're both alright. A/C guy is working on the a/c now so maybe cool air in a couple of more hours.

Wow, I'm so glad your ok! I would be freaking, having a life crisis, life flashing before my eyes etc....

I hope everything works out smoothly for the loss of your car. I do hope the cops try to pursue and find the people that did this, and your vehicle, even though they didn't seem like they believed you. Maybe there are a lot of people around there that lie about these kinds of things that they gave you this kind of attitude.

well, thats what I would do. If he wants anything hot, let him fix it himself.

    cathych,
That's what I told him to do. I made myself a chicken salad w/things we already had in the fridge to eat that I didn't have to cook or heat up....even using the microwave. Aggie didn't eat....and you know I heard about that. Told him he had the option to let me order something, make up something that was already cooked in the fridge, cook something in the microwave. HELL NO. So he went to bed a few minutes ago still grumbling about food. I just said "tough S^$T GO TO BED. Maybe I won't cook tomorrow either. I'm loving this "canned air" as he calls it. Raised on the stuff and can't/won't last a day in Houston or where we live w/out it. Still don't have a car but one problem down and one more to go. Hopefully we'll hear something about MY CAR tomorrow/today. Blue Book price isn't bad if that's what the insurance co. will give me which is what they were talking about the last time we talked around 4:30 our time today. We'll see.

Thank you, Jasmine. I hope they catch this person/s too. I'm not sure why the cops didn't believe either one of us or witnesses that were standing around. I'm just glad we were both alright and not hurt. Besides the car being taken inside I had a lot of my favorite cd's (can all be replaced) but I'd just bought 2 new ones that I loved and there was a lot of stuff from one of my neice that was in my car....some of her toys, blanket, pillow in backseat that I gave her when she was little, some things I'd just bought that day for Memorial Day weekend that happens to be my birthday weekend. So, it sucked on top of sucking more...lol. Not meant to be funny but can't do anything about it now except laugh......UNTIL I GET A NEW CAR WHICH I PLAN ON GETTING THIS WEEK OR NEXT COME HE^* OR HIGH WATER. Don't really care what Aggie thinks. It was MY CAR, NOT HIS. You only turn 40 once in your life and only get/buy new cars so many times. That car was the first brand new car I'd ever had and bought and paid for on my own. I think that's what bothers me more....I really liked my car and took a lot of time, effort to choose just the right color, type, person to deal with before I bought it. Aggie can go get his own automobile at this point. I WANT MY OWN CAR BACK OR ANOTHER ONE. Hopefully I'll get a rental option from ins. co.
