    Vent about Salespeople

I went to buy a new mattress. Did this supposed scientific questionaire at the storethat was supposed to take into account my height, etc. So I bought a new mattress and foundation.. The dog tried to jump off and got hurt. I had to climb into bed.
So back I went to the store. Explained to salesperson that I'm not much over 5 feet tall and need short. Of course, the new set that he assured me was 4" shorter was more expensive. So I bought that. But it wasn't 4" shorter-the foundation was 4" shorter but the mattress was taller. So back I went. I'm getting old and want to fall into bed at night-not jump. Had to call district manager and have him waive exchange and shipping fees and hopefully train salespeople better. Hopefully this third set will work. This is a big fat pain.
I don't think I have bad communication skills but the salespeople sure didn't understand my needs.

I feel your pain, we bought a box spring and mattress a few years ago. It didn't look that thick in the store the mattress that is.
We got it home and put it on the frame and I had to climb into bed I hated it, I'm 5'3". We kept it but I made hubby take it off the frame and it sits on the floor. Which makes it a more reasonable height.

My bed is super high and I love it! Of course, I had a little wooden stool built to match the frame and I use it to get into bed.

    I'm only fallen out once...LOL!
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

I thought of taking the bed off the frame but I don't want to. Not for what I'm spending.
I'm just ticked off because the first 2 times I went to the store they did not even have a ruler to measure the height and made no mention of options like a low profile foundation despite the fact that I kept insisting height was a factor.
So now I have a little dog who thank heavens only has a bad sprain from jumping off the bed. Have had to buy a pet stair so my little dog can still sleep with me. And have wasted a 3 day weekend trying to buy a bed that hopefully will last a good long time. It was only by calling the district manager that I got answers.
I'm hoping that by tomorrow night I have the last bed I ever want to buy.
For the money that I'm spending you'd have thought that the sales people at a store that only sells mattresses would have some kind of training or at least knowledge of the products. Or would have listened to what the customer was saying.

I bought a new bedroom suite a few years ago. Keep in mind I am 5' 1". I did not realize when I bought a 4 post bed that the posts were 7' tall. Needless to say when they finished putting the set together and I walked in my bedroom I almost cracked up. I basically thought I was going to have to take up pole vaulting to get into bed. Needless to say I figured out why they sold a set of steps with that set - which of course I didn't buy. I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond and found a single step that matched it perfectly for $ 20.00 verses the $ 250.00 set from the furniture store. So I use my step and have realized when you buy sheets you also need to know how tall the mattress is - or the sheets don't fit properly either.

The last sentence is wrong. Your needs were not even a consideration. They didn't care about your needs. They wanted to make a sale and be done with it.

This place says you have 90 days to return for an exchange, comfort guaranteed, yadda, yadda.
As of next week I will have returned 3 sets and keep the fourth. They won't let me do anymore exchanges.
They weren't happy and I was a bit embarassed by not being an informed consumer but I also have to say that their "sleep experts" weren't very helpful. But I pushed them to honor their written promises.
This is why I hate to shop. I should know that most salespeople really aren't trained well.

We have a very tall bed also. I also have to use a step stool to get into bed. I kinda like it but hate to think about when I am older. We bought a tempurpedic bed, so we will have it until we die...lol. I absolutely HATE it!!! My dh has back problems and it has been fantastic for him. I didn't have back issues until we bought this darn thing...grrrr.
I think its great that they at least allowed you 3 different exchanges even if you did have to fight for them. Most of the time they would charge you the delivery fees at least.
The more you complain, the longer God makes you live.

FYI they did charge me a delivery fee the first 2 times but for what I'm paying it was worth it. The delivery fee wasn't too much
I'm getting old and figure this was the last mattress I'll ever buy. So it's got to be perfect.
I'm just still po'ed that the salespeople gave me no information about options such as such as standard and low profile foundations, etc. They didn't even have a ruler or measuring tape at the store when I asked to measure height. On top of that there was an endless soundtrack in the background about how their "sleep experts" could help one choose the perfect mattress. About the only thing the sleep experts knew about their products was how to ring up a sale.
