Thread: Am I terribly wrong?

Am I wrong for wanting to get some help for Christmas, even tho my kids are 17 & 19? i know there are families with young children that need most of it-but we have had such a devastating year, and I would like to be able to have fun stocking stuffers and 1-2 presents on Christmas morning.

There are several local agencies that help with that.

I don't think you are wrong for feeling this way because feelings aren't right or wrong. They just are. I do think, however, that your 'children' are old enough to understand that tough years happen. They should be mature enough to get that. Little children don't have that maturity and people are more inclined to help a child then someone who is almost an adult.

But, regardless of their ages, they are still your children and of course, you want the best for them.

It is never wrong for a mother to want to make their children happy, especially after the year you have had. It would be great to give them a bit of happiness on such a special day.

If I was you maybe not this year but next I'd work on getting lots of gift cards for stores or restaurants next year. They make good stocking stuffers or gifts. And a lot of these programs have ones teens would like and they can buy stuff for themselves that they want or like. Start now or right after Christmas. Most of them don't expire for two years so you can get them all year and keep them till Christmas. I buy most of my Christmas gifts with gift cards or just give them as gifts. I hardly ever spend money. I don't think it's wrong for you to want them to have a nice Christmas either.

I have been clicking everything on my points-forgot about that! I have enough for a couple of gift cards. Thanks for reminding me!

no you are not wrong.. mine are 17 and 23 and although my parents are getting them gifts.. I still wish I was able to get them something...just not gonna happen this year!!

or is it freecycle.com . i know they are usually good about recycling things
you can ask for things as well as give them , and maybe they ll have something neat to give you .
and what ever happened to making them gifts ....heck i crotchet scarves and ear muffs and hats , im sure if you think hard you can think of something to make them , how about jewelery there are several things on line at the craft stores you could get them and make or give them to make them selves , they are under 10 dollars , and kids even teen agaers love to make stuff ,
there are all sorts of things , get a funky looking pair of jeans from goodwill and paint them with dimension paint and sew on or even glue on some charms and stuff ,,,,,,,,,,, kids love them ,,,,,,,,,,,,
there are all sorts of things, in the libray that show you how to do it.........

you dont have to spend a fortune to make a xmas special just spend your time on them ,,,,,,,,,,, and effort ............ they ll remember that more than what they get later in life and love you more for it


you see my son in this pic , when he was 16 he was into gothe ,,,,,,, i went to the dollar store and bought him lipstick , fingernail polish and all sorts of guady colors that the gothe love to wear and then went to sallys an got him green , and yellow and red spray for his hair and made him a basket and gave them to him .; lol he loved it and it didtn cost me and arm and a leg ...... made him happy and i had a good laugh seeing him use it and look so crazy , he did grow out of that , and now that hes gone i do have my memories ,,,,,,,,,,, and can laugh and remember ..........

And they come pretty quickly! We're having a hard time this year too. I thought we I might be able to manage, then our refrigerator went out We'll still manage somehow. And no, you are definitely not wrong for wanting to do something for your kids, no matter how old they are.
