I have had a trip to the local ready care over melted marshmallows..........homemade smores accident!
I made two batches of crispy treats lastnight at about 1:30 in the morning. But no trip to the ER this time!

Everyone said OH they are soo easy and good. Well maybe. But our mw is only a few months old and is a high wattage. So we followed the recipe to a T. ANd they turned into bricks.LOL Apparently we Overcooked.
So the second batch I only did half the time and I had that stuff going everywhere. so Mary I feel your pain. LOL
Hmmm what carmel receipe are you talking about? Might just be my next experiment...haha.

lol you're reminding me of the joke about the woman who tried the hot wax kit for hair removal, LMAO, I CAN PICTURE YOU NOW.. GLUED BY HOT WAX TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TUB IN SCALDING WATER. lmao.. now thats a picture

another super easy way to make them is to get a metal mixing bowl and a pot filled with water. Boil the water and use the metal bowl on top to make a double boiler. You can't burn them, you can add caramels and when you're done you just throw 6 cups in the bowl to mix. I usually scoop the stuff out with a spoon onto a waxed paper baking tin and use a pammed spatula to get them straight and even. Sorry they were such a pain for you!!!

Brilliant idea...a double boiler. Something so simple but it didn't even occur to me...thanks!

We use the marshmallow cream too. The kids like it when I add m&m's or "chips" to it (chocolate, peanut butter, etc.)
Sorry you had such a bad experience with them but don't give up just yet. Just think of it this way, at least your entire kitchen wasn't covered in ooey gooey marshmallow mess.

my marshmallows (minis) were kinda old and a lil hard...does that matter! ha!!
