Paypal fees
Is anyone else VERY annoyed by these? I'm mean I can see either a fee or a percentage of transaction, BUT both? Its not like you are listing something like you do on ebay for days for people to see etc. A bank (which they claim to be close to) does not charge fees for every transaction. So I think this is a total rip off.

Not that I'm saying paypal is wondeful, but what they are charging are in line with the fees merchants pay to run a credit card. A credit card transaction costs so much per transaction and then a percentage of the total. I'm thinking the fees they are charged changed and they are passing that on.

I can guarantee you that with the amount of credit card transactions that paypal is doing per day that the fees are not as high as a regular business. There are as many as 27 clearinghouses that a credit card payment can go through and depending on which processor they are using they can be kept down. The more the transactions a company does the lower the clearinghouse and processor fees are. So you can say paypal is gouging the consumer for using their "bank".

I'm confused
If I sell anything on this site it is considered a commercial transaction so I have to fill out "requires one-time application, qualifying monthly sales volume, and account in good standing". And they are going to charge me a transacation fee of 2.9% plus fixed fee of .30? I don't think I've ever sold anything for over a few dollars, and where will I come up with qualifying monthly sales volume when my transactions are so few and sporadic. I knew eventually they would start charging something, can't be free forever, but it won't be worth many peoples time to sell small things like coupons, etc. And how will it work if you aren't a business? And they will wonder if an account receives to many small personal transactions. So what should folks like us who trade with very little money involved do? Plus I get my Pinecone payments through them, so that won't be a personal transaction either, Pinecone will have to pay the fees?
Keep your hands to yourself, leave other people's things alone, and be kind to one another.

if you sell anything from here, like i do, just have the person send it under the "personal" tab and hit gift. no fees! then have them send you their mailing addy. its a pain that you cant print out the postage from them unless you pay the fee is though...

The problem with sending it "personal" and avoiding the fees is the buyer has no protection in a bad trade. Make sure you know the person well if you send it that way.
Be who you are and say what you feel, those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
