It doesn't matter what brand the formula is, as long as it's the same type. Like I said, I got the case of Walmart formula, but one of the bags I got had 1 can of Similac and one had a can of Carnation...but all the formula was soy, the kind I was going to use. I always thought it was form of advertising, The companies wanted you to try their brand and gave you samples and coupons for it.

How dare you judge me. You have no idea what I have been through with my 3 children. For your information, my oldest son DID go through 3 formulas before we finally found one that he could digest without problems, and it just so happened to be NESTLE. My second son was easier. But unfortunately our financial situation caused us to have to make some difficult choices. One of those was whether or not to substitute a less expensive formula when we ran out of Similac from WIC (if we had to). Having the samples on hand helped us to determine how he would react to them, without us having to waste the money on something we could not use. Fortunately, we had very few problems with him. My new baby boy is showing some of the problems that I had with my first. With my firstborn I tried to nurse at first but was unable to produce enough milk so I didn't really try with my second. So far, Cameron will only take a very little bit of Similac at a time and he is very gassy. I have been trying to nurse him too. I couldn't afford a breast pump with my first, but I was able to get one this time. I just got it yesterday and I still have to boil the stuff to sterilize it. So right now I am nursing and bottle feeding. If the nursing still doesn't work then I will probably have to try Enfamil or Nestle.

Also, for your information EDITEDnever mind. I did donate my diaper bags when I was finished with them. I wouldn't ask for them if I couldn't use them. That hospital made $1200 cash from me in addition to the thousands that they billed my insurance. That's not including the $500 I paid to their Partners for the prenatal care. You'd think after all that, they wouldn't begrudge me 3 lousy bags that didn't cost them a dime and in fact, were intended for me as a mother to influence my purchasing decision.

Thank you. Actually, he is a boy. I know it can get confusing. There were and still are alot of pregnant ladies on here at the same time

I thought about doing that, and I may still. The only thing about that is that if I do report them, the companies may stop sending the bags. I don't really think the hospitals would care. I think it would most likely negatively effect other moms and I certainly don't want to do that. That is why I filed the complaint with the hospital administration first. I wanted to find out if this was truly "hospital policy" or if it wasn't just the nurses being stingy so that they could keep the items for themselves for whatever reason.

That's exactly the point I was trying to make to the nurses as well as here. It is advertising. They WANT you to have these so you will try their brand. If they didn't their certificates would say something like "you can only have this bag if you don't get any other" or something stupid like that.

Three diaper bags is really not that many when you consider how long your child is in diapers and pull-ups. When I had my first child the Similac bag's handle started to break after only a month of use. I was really glad that I had a couple more. This was the only time I actually had to get the coupons out. My other two were born in Military hospitals and they always brought me all 3 bags without me even having to ask. So I was really surprised to get this kind of hassle, especially now when I was actually having to pay for the insurance and $1200 of my hospital bill.

I don't have a lot of money right now to go out and buy new things. When I found out I was pregnant, it was about the same time that I found out that my contract wasn't going to go permanent where I worked due to a corporate takeover. So I have been a stay at home mom since then. So far I have been able to get by because I started shopping early at garage sales, and I was given some gifts from friends and family. I have also received a couple of small items from Freecycle, and was able to buy some lots of clothing on Ebay and resell what I didn't need.

I agree with this & I was going to make a reply like this one yesterday but seeing how April78945 got jumped all on for her opinion I'm glad I didn't.

Maybe the hospitol has a policy of only allowing patients to use one coupon/only get 1 free diaper bag.

Heck, I was happy to get just the one free small similac bag back when I had my 2 daughters. I always bought/was given a full size one which I used with my 2nd daughter.

I would feel uncomfortable trying to use 3 coupons at the hospital but that's just me.

My point is you shouldn't call someone greedy over something like that. As I said it did not cost the hospitals anything. I see people posting on here all the time about how they lie and say they are companies, how they register multiple email addresses so they can get extras, and no one calls them greedy. I try to get one bag from each company (representing myself only as a mother) and you people want to come on here all high and mighty and try to judge me, whatever.

The bags I got at the hospital weren't what I call a 'real' diaper bag anyway, especially the Similac one, lol! They might be better now, but the ones I got at the hospital were small and not many compartments. I used mine for quick trips etc, because they only held like 1 bottle and maybe 2 diapers. I bought a good one before she was born and I still have it, she uses it as a carry-on when we travel, and she's 7 now. It's black and blue plaid.

The ones from the hospital had coupons, the Playtex one had a sm bottle set w/ a pk of liners etc and lots of advertisements for their products. The companies WANT you to get these.

We were giving our opinions about what we ourselves would/would not do & you are the one getting defensive.

I just stated that I would not be comfortable trying to use more than one coupon at the hospital.

    I never called anyone greedy.

It is not the "hospital" giving her the bag, it is the different companies. This is no different than having 3 coupons for 3 different types of cheeses and taking them all to the grocery store & cashing them in. If any of you did that, and the store told you that you could only get one, you would also be upset. I used 2 different formulas with all of my children (Similac & Carnation), and they were all fine. With the extremely high cost of living & bringing up babies, I know I would use all 3 to help make ends meet. What I could not use, I would give away.
I am currently getting the Similac coupons & samples in the mail (no I don't have any babies), but I give them to the local pregnancy crisis center.
I would also complain to the Hosp Admin & make sure that they know what is going on.
