I live in Oklahoma, and I'm a single mom. the only type of medical assistance i can receive from the state is family planning, which i don't need since i've had a tubal ligation... when i took the ex to child support, they deemed that the almost 500 i would have to pay, or the 400 or so my ex would have to pay as "UNREASONABLE", AND THEY TAKE 90 A month from my child support to pay for my child to stay on SOONERCARE, (medicaid).... that has been my lifesaver, since my son had asthma and a stomach issue and has 6 prescriptions a month.....the insurance i had through work, was crazy... to go to a dr even with it, would end up costing me over 150 if i got any prescriptions.. and it had to be paid right then. yeah the office visit is 40 without insurance, but ANYTHING/EVERYTHING they do, cost more. I'm starting a new job at a private college here, so i'm hoping that insurance is better... I have several issues i need checked out.... but because of the cost i've been to the dr one time in over 10 years.

Insurance is the biggest scam in America. Think of how much people pay per month for insurance and how often they actually use and it adds up to the insurance company making huge profits.

This thread was started in "06, I wonder how it turned out for the OP? I read now doctors are suggesting pap smears every 2 years instead of every year. This will only get worse with Obamacare. Less tests and less help when you get sick.
Try to pay in cash and they will see you fast. The Amish always do this but they also know how to save for a rainy day.

My Dr. allows you to skip a year if you had normal results for the 5 previous years and have no family history of female repro cancers. Trust me I was HAPPY that I got to skip it one year.
