Re: Christmas Shopping
I just put a layaway in last night too. Dumb butt me didnt even THINK that there's no way I will feel like Christmas shopping after my surgery. Now Im stressed over that too. I put a few things in last night but it wasnt even a dent! I so do not trust DH to do the Christmas shopping. Someone told me to do it online but I just have SO many kids and other ppl to shop for its unreal. Man I just know Im gonna be feeling like a scrooge come Christmas Where was my head? I wont even be allowed to DRIVE for ten days, let alone drive and walk around a store Dont have the money to go do it all now. DH doesnt get his Christmas bonus until the first week of December and he will collect his vacation money in advance then too but I sure wish he could get it sooner. Normally its not an issue. I cant believe I didnt think of that.....
sorry to poop on your thread...... Im just so stressed over it too. And they were out of alot of things I went to get last night as well. I did manage to put the coat in that DH has been longing for though.... so thats taken care of. They only had THREE left !! And I got one of them.
Good luck hun.... is it too early to say "BAH HUMBUG!!" ???
and I really do love Christmas, really.... just gonna be a pain to shop for this year

Tasha , You are the sweetest! Again, Im sorry for poopin on your thread... I just can so relate over the not having what you were looking for.
I truly believe you would help me if you were closer hun! You're such a sweetie!! .... Ill manage. Jeff is gonna take 3 days off of work, unfortunately atleast 2 of the days Ill still be in the hospital and 4 of the kids will be at the ex's so he'll just have our youngest. When Id really like him home is Sunday when the kids come back from the ex's etc and the following morning because it will be their first morning Ill have to get them up and ready for school after Im home, etc.... its a battle on a "normal" day.
Ok... Im rambling again hun. Thanks for caring! HUGS

I've been telling DH that we need to start shopping but one thing or another would come up and we kept putting it off. I guess we are kinda paying for it now. LOL Hopefully they will get the stuff in at this store or I will be running around to all of the other ones.
Next year if I'm able I'm going to start buying throughout the year too. It would be so much easier that way. Trying to buy for everyone in the family and within our own family at once gets a little rough. I try to buy everyone a little something every year. It may not always be expensive but it comes from the heart.
llbriteyes, I didn't know your dh was going to lose his job. I'm sorry.
(((Hugs)))
Thanks. It may be a blessing in disguise. He can go to school fulltime and still get like 50% (or something) of his pay. He had so much taken out of his check automatically for this and that anyway, so we're going to be ok I think.
On shopping early. Today I cleaned out my closet. lol I have been shopping all year (especially the sales right after Christmas). I guess I really do like to shop. I never buy anything unless its a good deal. I wrote everything down as I put it in designated bags. My youngest daughter made out. She has like 19 things listed, and I have more coming (for all of them). I just ordered my son's jeans and socks online. And a puzzle. I don't even LIKE Christine and she got 12 things.
Whats REALLY bad (or good) is I don't like to leave Christine's little sisters (7 and 13) out of stuff because they don't do things like that in her family. Katie, the 7 year old got 9 things! Even the extended family (except for Nick) got more than one thing. I think someone needs to make me STOP! Actually, after all the dust settles in the next two weeks, I need to do a re-count and even my kids up. When they were little, they had to have the same amount of things... not that one was more expensive... they wanted equal QUANTITY! Its my own fault for spoiling them. But they aren't spoiled. They're good kids.
And now for MY tally: 14 AND COUNTING! lol

Me too! I LOVE after Christmas! And most of the stuff I got for other people were freebies from here, and other freebies from companies I ordered from. I love Yves Rocher and Swiss Colony.

See if you can get someone to help you this year. Make lists. Delegate!
I hope your surgery goes ok.

Re: Christmas Shopping
Kelly, hope your surgery goes painlessly & quickly too.
I started Christmas shopping right after the holidays last year.
Have a large, extended family to buy for and I plan ahead.
Would you believe, at ShopKo, last year after the holidays
I purchased $25 sweaters for $1 each. They are a nice black wool sweater
and I went to several of the same stores locally and got one for all
the ladies in my family from size S to 3XXX.
Did the same for the men/boys' sweaters M to 3XXX that were from $3 to $5,
nice wool sweaters that go up to $50. That was at Kohl's.
Also purchased bathrobes for the ladies in the family the same way at Meijer's.
I got those cute Hallmark kiss bears for 50 cents a set after the holidays too.
Don't you just love them?
I have parents & inlaws, 7 grown sisters, 7 BILs, 30 nieces & nephews, and
4 great nieces & nephews, not counting DH/2DS. I have to keep a running list.
Next question: Who wants to help me giftwrap???
