Mommy to 1 girl & 2 boys
What is this world coming to anways??
I went to the park yesterday with my two sons and there was this guy who really made me mad. He was there with his little girl and he was sitting at a picnic table with his back to his daughter, who couldn?t have been more than 3, possibly even 2. She wandered around the playground for a long time just playing by herself. He wasn't even watching her. Somebody put her in a swing and she called for him a couple of times without him doing anything about it. Finally he came over to her when she screamed, "Daddy". I was so upset with him that I gave him a piece of my mind. I told him that it wasn?t safe to not watch his kid because anyone could snatch her. He said he was watching. Yeah, right! My friend and I both saw him and he wasn't watching. How can he watch with his back to his kid?? I said, "No, you weren't watching. You were reading." He said that he was. SO, then I told him to be careful with his daughter because kids are precious. ARGGHHH!!! Why can't people take better care of their children?? What is more important anyways . . . His daughter or his magazine?? I kind of wish that I had yelled at him more.
Another day I was at ToysRUs and there was this pregnant lady smoking. How could someone smoke, drink, or do drugs while being pregnant? It's common knowledge how bad those habits are for the growing fetus. Do they care nothing for their baby? Or do they just love the cigarettes more than their child? Either way, it makes me really sad and very angry.

And when she is in his care and she wanders off and gets lost or drowns in a pool of water, he will remember your words. You probably made him feel guilty and that was why he was so defensive. He will learn the first time she falls and breaks an arm or cuts herself so deep that she needs stitches. He has forgotten how fragile kids are.
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.

He left the park soon after I talked to him. I think he may have been embarrased. Yet he was so defensive. I don't know if I really got through to him. I sure hope I did.

I understand why you are upset
It's a crazy world full of wackos. We take our son to parks, and wherever and ALWAYS keep an eye on him. My husband is worse than I am. He stands on top of the swing or slide and "guards" my son. I will sit on a bench and watch him play. But, you know, so many times I see these parents who let their little ones (not big kids but little ones) wander around while they chat on their cell phones or whatever. My husband and I were at the park one day and this guy had 2 little girls with him. One kept calling, "Daddy, come here, Daddy." and wanted him to push her on the swing. The other girl was playing and running. Daddy was on his cell phone the whole time, half of it not even looking at the kids!!
"I'm looking for my own ROCKY MOUNTAIN "high."

when we go to the park I dont let the kids out of my sight, I freak out most of the time cause all I can see is one of them falling and breaking something or worse, dh laughs at me and says they are just kids relax...sorry but I cant these are my babies.
I dont understand how people can do that either, with so many kids getting kidnapped you have to keep an eye on them...it is just crazy out there
My mom...gone but not forgotten

Good for you for saying something to his dumb a$$! I get so fumed when I see people doing things like this. These are the same people who's kids end up missing and they say, "I dont' know what happened. He/She was just there, and now they're gone!" Get's me so mad! And as for the pregnant mother smoking, that has got to be one of my NUMBER ONE pet peeves in the entire world. I came very very close to saying something to a woman I saw in the WalMart parking lot the other day. As far as I'm concerned, it's child endangerment!
...Stepping off my soapbox....

I agree with you totally JKatherine. I was wondering if anyone else would post a view on smoking. LOL I figured it was too much of a controversial topic and that everyone was just trying to avoid it. LOL

Oh...I agree with you on the pregnant women smoking issue. But, it's been discussed on this board ad nauseum...and it usually ends up with the thread being locked...LOL!
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

I certainly don't want to cause an argument or have my thread locked, which is why I didn't state any more views on the smoking topic. I was hoping what was said wouldn't offend people.
