Ebay sellers: is this allowed? BIG problem w/ebay transaction
I've got a seller lying like crazy to me about an auction on ebay that I won and paid for. I'm sure the seller doesn't want to send the item (I got a fantastic deal!). The seller has given me 3 "shipping dates", and issued a confirmation number on the last one. I checked with USPS and customer service explained she electronically requested the conf #, and scheduled the pkg to be shipped, but it was NEVER brought in to be sent (they told me the status will change to "recieved" or "received at hub" or "received at terminal" or received in SOME WAY. (IN OTHER WORDS IT HASN'T SHIPPED!) the conf # was issued on the 11th, with no status updates since.
This seller told me on the phone that she wasn't getting my emails, or my "question for seller" forms from ebay either...so, as things seem a little stinky, I went to their website (a listing service for ebay)WWW .FORSALEBOUTIQUE .COM...and find 2 false claims; they say they are a "REGISTERED TRADING ASSISTANT" and a "POWER SELLER" on Ebay...Here's the question for you ebay sellers...is this allowed? These people are neither registered trading assistants nor power sellers, can people just lie like that? I thought Ebay had to grant the "power seller" status?
Anyone wanna help me do a little test? the seller is forsaleboutique...her feedback is good, she just doesn't want to send my items because she should have set a reserve and didn't! Her claim is that the "question for seller" form isn't working on Ebay, would you be willing to cruise thru her auctions and maybe send her a question for seller to see if by some miracle she is actually able to receive it and respond to you?
Don't you hate it when you see it coming, but can't do anything about it!

Hi brokebrook,
I looked over her auctions and emailed her using the "question for seller" form. I will let you know if she responds.

Sounds pretty suspicious to me... but it is possible that she's having email problems. I had some problems a few weeks ago with not receiving any emails sent by eBay or through the 'ask seller' link. When I posted on one of eBay's help boards, I had other people post that they were having the same trouble.
I'd believe that it could be email trouble, except that all the other stuff sounds fishy. And claiming to be a power seller when you aren't is just dishonest.

I use the electronic delivery confirmations all the time and have been told by the post office counter people when I give them my packages that they are not required to scan the confirmation number upon reciept and they never do. Occasionally there are some updates to the tracking in the system but rarely. The only time they are usually scanned is upon delivery. Of course I am not defending this particular seller but just letting you know that the csr was not truthful with you. If you paid by paypal and it has been less than thirty days try filing a complaint thru them. hth's

When did you went the auction? I think 7 bussiness days is a fair amount of time for something to be shipped out and recieved for anywhere within the continental US. If you paid by paypal, file a claim with them, also file a claim here

Also report internet abuse to their ISP provider, file charges at their local police dept, mail fraud is a federal offense, if it is across state lines the penalties are stiffer as well. If you need any help tracking down this person let me know hun

I didn't realize you could hide a power seller icon. I have looked the seller up as a registered trading assistant and they are not.
As of yesterday, the seller sent a message telling me the pkg went out on the 7th! (this was the first time I got that date!).
So far, I have been told:
on the 11th, your pkg shipped yesterday-the 10th (phone)
on the 11th, your pkg shipped a few days ago the 8or9th?(email ebay addy)
on the 13th, your pkg shipped the 11th! (email website addy)
on the 14th, your pkg shipped the 7th!!! (RESPONSE!! from question to seller) AAAAGHHHH!
The confirmation number she issued on the 11th still has not shipped, as per the united states postal service (I spoke with a guy). Even if that site isn't updated, this seller has given me no reason to believe really anything she says (in lieu of the varying ship dates she has provided, and the false statements on the website).
Her "question for seller" form miraculously started working when I contacted Ebay about not being able to reach her!
I have spoken with her on the phone (the number listed on the website they have), and that prompted her to respond (once, very early on) Now I get a voicemail recorder. I get only one response per method I attempt to reach them (ie: one time, they answered the phone, one time they responded to an email I sent to their website contact info, one time they responded to ? for seller and once was a response to a msg sent to their email addy provided by ebay.) Problem is, I'm rapidly running out of ways in which to contact them.
This seller just caught me at a bad time, I can recover my money thru paypal, I just get so damn sick of people lying and f'ing around like this. If this package was shipped, I would think the seller would want to give me the accurate information rather than 3 different ship dates.
thanks for all the insight, as usual it was a great benefit!

I'm sorry you are going through that. I never seem to understand just how people can give others the run around like that. If it hasn't been shipped, just come clean instead of stressing about avoiding emails and phone calls and telling all these lies. I hope you get your stuff!
