    grrrrrr @ my references

I applied for a job at the Disney Store the other day and they wanted me to come in today to fill out more paper work to hire me. But they wanted to talk to at least 2 of my references first. So, an hour and a half before I am supposed to be there I get a call saying that they had not got a hold of anyone yet. They call me later to reschedule for Friday and had only got one of my references. Grrrr... they left you ppl messages, why can't you just return a phone call?? But no, I have to wait two more days before I can start working!

I work for Disney. I would call your references and explain that you need them to respond to the inquiry.

Good luck! BTW...are you aware that the Disney Stores are "on the market". They have been a losing division for Disney in recent years and the company is looking to "dump" them.

You might ask about it when you interview.

The stores are up for sale and those that aren't making money (they weren't for Disney) will probably be closed as soon as the deal is done. Keep applying at other stores. Some places pay much more than others.

I was already aware that Disney was unhappy with them due to low sales. However, I was told that they are getting there adult size clothing, infants wear and things like snowglobes, picture frames, etc. back. They said there sales have really been down since all they've had was kid's clothes and toys.

Yea...what happened was that this guy was brought in to run the stores. He was like from "The Gap". Anyway...he wasn't used to a stores carrying such a wide variety of inventory. He said that the problem with the Disney Stores was that they needed to focus on their strongest target group.

Well...he was obviously wrong and has since resigned. Unfortunately, he all but destroyed a good division.

Yeah, everyone I've talked to was really disappointed (myself included) when they got rid of their adult line. Plus, it was just a lot more interesting to go into the store just to browse when they had a wider variety. Seeing the same stuffed animals over and over gets a little tedious.

I work for Corporate at the studio so we all wear lots of Disney clothes...particularly on casual Fridays.

Most of my casual wear has a Disney emblem. Unfortunately...people weren't buying it in the numbers they used to.

We have our own Disney Store on the lot and I used to spend a fortune every time I went there. Now I rarely buy anything unless it is a newly released video or something on sale.
