go here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
it will scan your system, and give you the updates you need, including this patch(or that is the way I took it)
here is the link I got it from, you can read it first, http://www.microsoft.com/security/se...s/ms03-026.asp
the link I listed above is the first one at the bottom

I am so conputer illeterate. I went to the "patch" and it says windows NT, XP, 200 etc etc. Which do I click on for Windows 98? Sorry to be so dumb. I can't even find a link for AVG. For some reason, my computer is so messed up that AVG isn't even there anymore. It's there, it just doesn't work for some reason. Think I probably just need to take to the shop and see if they can unscrew everything that is screwed up
Thanks.

The monotar will come on but the pc takes forever of shuting it off and restarting before it will start. Do you think it could be part of this viris? TIA

According to Microsoft, the virus doesn't affect Windows 98 systems...

thats the way i understood it. I have 98 as well as my sister. WE did not get it. However my mom who has 2 computers one with NT and one with XP. They both got it. So id be hesitant to say wether its that virus. Unless you got an infected email from someone and got it that way.

Since i care about everyone here, i am going to type what was in the newspaper today regarding the worm,
How to Squash the Bug
The so-called Blaster worm can infect computers running Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003 or Windows NT operarting systems.
Internet virus and security experts offered the following advice to clear the worm, if it is present on your personal computer.
1. Disconnect your computer from the Internet and any internal network it may be connected to.
2. Go to the START menu and launch the FIND (or RUN) utility. Search for any files names MSBLASTER.EXE. Delete any that are found.
3. Reboot
4. Go to START/RUN menu and run DCOMCNFG. (Can also be run from a DOS prompt.) Use the checkbox or radio button to disable distributed COM.
5. Reboot again.
6. Reconnect to the Internet. Go to WindowsUpdate to apply any needed security patch to your operating system.
*Windows XP Home Edition users should download the 32 bit.
