Jazz Great Pete Fountain has died at 86
New Orleans music legend Pete Fountain has died at 86, his family confirmed Saturday (Aug. 6).
He was a Jazz Fest and Mardi Gras fixture.
The city's ambassador for traditional jazz, Fountain entertained four presidents and one pope.
he 2013 Jazz Fest was Fountain's last, but he continued to parade with his Half-Fast Marching Club for Mardi Gras, albeit on wheels instead of on foot.
"It's a sad day for his family," his son-in-law and manager Benny Harrell said. "And it's sad, too, for all of New Orleans. Pete and his clarinet brought a lot of love and music to the world. He will greatly be missed."

Pete playing the song that went gold for him in the 60s, 'Just A Closer Walk With Thee'. He puts 'Amazing Grace' in the middle of this version. Also listen for 2 bars of 'I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire'. Enjoy!
