Thread: How to post pictures and videos

Thanks - have been thinking that I might want to post something to 'for sale or trade' here. Pictures are handy for that!

First get an account at imgur.com - its free then upload your picture, copy the link and come back here. Above, the 2nd line down has the BOLD, ITALICS, etc, to the very right you see a QUOTE bubble and to the left are the symbols for the VIDEO and PICTURE. Click the PICTURE one and enter the URL you copied from imgur.....that's it.

To find the URL on imgur click on the bubble in the right hand corner and select IMAGES. Click on the picture you want the link for and BAM tons of links on the right hand side. You can select the SECOND one - DIRECT LINK - and then do the above steps.

Same for video except use youtube.com and click the VIDEO and paste the url.

It really is that simple. It is a bummer the site wont allow you to post pictures directly but there is always a way to do it

You can upload private there also. When you create a new post on the right side you can click either COMMUNITY or HIDDEN.

https://imgur.com/a/IBb6xM6 - that is hidden on mine so if you go to https://imgur.com/user/KniRider/posts - you will not see it but you will if you click the link. If you don't want anyone to ever see it just never share the link for a hidden picture. Once you share the link it will be out there for anyone to see that has the link but nobody who views your profile/username on imgur will see anything hidden.

If you go to images through the right hand bubble after you login and add a new one there it will auto post to community so then click on the picture in IMAGES then click VIEW AND EDIT POST and then on the right you will see the COMMUNITY and HIDDEN buttons. Just click HIDDEN then either copy the link to share or just go to your homepage.

Easy way to check if your images are hidden is to just logout and then paste your user link - https://imgur.com/user/PUT YOUR IMGUR USERNAME HERE/posts - into your web browser and see if you can see the hidden ones while logged out.

tried copying the embed link, but that didn't work either. Guess I can just post the link in any sales posts if someone wants to check it

<strike>It seems something changed on imgur or here</strike> I actually said in the main post to use the DIRECT LINK CODE but if you copy the main image link you have to add the file extension as it doesn't keep it (i.e. .gif .jpg .png )

You can copy the bbcode and paste it directly or use the direct link code and use the picture button on here to add it.

Thanks! I had to poke around a little to find where the 'Direct Link' and 'BBCode' stuff was, but now I see
