I think facebook took alot of the people away from here. I also remember those days all to well. Drama, Drama, Drama, Flame, Flame, Flame.

I'm really glad things are working out better this time. Hopefully the new puppy will bring some spunk and fun into her life. It is so sad she was so abused that she was shaking. Thanks for getting her back and giving her another chance.

Thanks everyone. We slept in late today since I have more OT coming. She is being stubborn today. It took her a few hours before she would finally drop her butt down but she finally went after the 4th attempt.
I have decided once all the OT that I signed up for, I won't be grabbing anymore so I will be home more to help her adjust. I have a week's vacation coming up starting next Sunday morning for a week because of the puppy coming and Rob is taking the following Monday off so between the 2 of us we will be having 10 full days off. Then I'm off for other week starting May 23rd to take the pups up to the camper for that week!
I think he's going to go open up the camper next weekend but he's worried about doing all the work & having Penny up there alone without my help. I hope Smokey helps him with her.

LOL, she sounds like a kid being stubborn. That is probably a good thing not to take any more OT and getting some vacation time in also. I'm sure that will help her alot with adjusting to things.
I'd just take a long leash or rope up to open the camper up, that way you can tie her up outside to keep her from wondering off if you need to.

I just found out this evening that she went into heat. I never had to deal with this before. What can I do so she doesn't make a mess everywhere? Will she bleed a lot or what? Smokey is the only female I ever owned & I had her spayed when she was 6 months old so I never had to deal with this problem. No wonder she isn't playing, the poor little girl is probably bloated

Hopefully someone can help you with this or call your vet and ask. I never had dogs so I can't help. But you might consider getting her fixed unless you want pups from her someday.

She will ''spot'' a good bit, but not bleed every where. She will also act motherly towards the other dog, or her toys. Bungee used to ''nest'' with her toys when she was in heat. She thought they were her pups. Drove me crazy. They had to go with her EVERYWHERE! lol. I couldn't even take one away from her.
The vet told me if I got her fixed, it would also help calm her down. (she was part terrier....or should I say TERROR, lol, and was VERY active). I noticed no difference once she was fixed. lol.
It does get to be a pain when she's in heat though. I had to keep Bungee in the kitchen, on the tile floor. Easier to clean up than on carpet.

Part terror! I love it.
Penny won't be bothered with toys and as long as I'm in the house she is snuggled up to me as close as she can get. This poor dog must have endured a lot. I know she never had dog treats before she came here.
Her appointment for being spayed and the hernia to be fixed is on the 24th. There is no way I could keep her locked out in the kitchen on the tile. She'll think she's being punished.

That's good you are getting her fixed. If she is bleeding alot or leaving blood spots, I think they make doggie diapers you could probably put on her to keep the blood from getting everywhere. That is if she would wear them.

I tried getting ready for work early so I could hit Petsmart or whatever it's called but I ran out of time and now I'm pushing myself not to be leaving too late. Back to the 12 hour shifts tonight. Five more work days and I'm off for the week. I cannot wait.
