Thumbs up This is too good not to share..

Never need to buy celery again? Sounds good, and simple; After using your organic celery for whatever dish (we recommend our Hunter's Stew), don't throw away the base - plant it and re-grow a new celery bunch, indoors or out. First, place your celery base-down (cut part up) in a small dish of warm water on or near a sunny windowsill for about a week until small green/yellow leaves appear in the centre. Once they fully emerge you can plant your celery. If you have space outdoors where sunlight and drainage are accessible, the celery should thrive there - if not, a re-purposed steel container will make a fine indoor bed for your bunch. Cover all but the newly emerged leaves with soil, and water generously. After a few weeks, you will see distinctive celery stalks ready to use!

    Hunters Stew:

2 lbs Bison Chunks (can be replaced with organic stew beef)

    1/2 Cup Seasoned Flour

    Olive Oil

2L Stock (Beef, vegetable or chicken - preferably homemade)

    2 Large Onions

    3 Garlic Cloves

    2 tbsp Sugar

2 Strips Fresh Bacon and/or 1/2 cup Pancetta Cubes

    2 Large Carrots

    3 Celery Stalks

    4 Medium Potatoes

    1/2 Cup Peas

    1/2 Cup Corn (if available)

1 Cup Freshly Harvested Mushrooms (if available)

    Salt/Pepper to taste

    Chilli peppers (optional)

Place flour in large bowl and season it with salt and pepper, to taste. Add in your meat (cut into bite-size pieces, the larger the more rustic) and toss until each piece in covered. Splash olive oil into your pan, on high, and toss in the floured meat. Let brown, then pour in stock. Bring to a simmer. In separate pan, sauté your onions and garlic, once browned add in sugar and let caramelize until a deep golden colour. Add into your stew pot. In same pan, add in bite-size bacon and/or pancetta pieces, cook until crispy. Add into stew pot. Take remaining vegetables and cut into bulky pieces. Add these to your pot, along with peas, corn and mushrooms. Let simmer on medium-low for 2-3 hours. Salt/Pepper to taste. Serve alongside fresh bread.

Note: For some heat add as many chilli peppers as you can handle; we like about 5.

Sounds fun - I've done that to a pineapple crown, but never thought to do it with a celery base! I'll have to give it a try

When we moved into our house 5 years ago there was a plant in the garden that smelled like lettuce but I didn't trust it so I dug it up. I didn't want to chance eating it.

    Get better Carrolin, hugs.

Yea, they are gonna try to get me outta this wheelchair and onto a walker, they tried
that in the hospital, and my arms and legs just collapsed. Since being in this chair for
2 years, i have no muscle tone at all..it has gotten so bad that i need help to transfer
from the couch to my wheel chair. It would be so nice to stand and look at someone
face to face again...my sons know this, they bend down to talk with me, a very nice
gesture since i never asked them to do that. I guess they remembered when they were
younger, i would always bend down to their eye level when we talked?

Hey! I posted in this thread but it didn't show up.

    Good luck with your rehab.

I have a veggie garden in the summer. I may try this trick since I use a lot of celery. I always thought celery was suppose to be a pain to grow but it sounds easy.

That would make life so much easier, when i cook, i have to take the pan off
of the burner just to stir it, i know, that's dangerous, but i do take precautions...
I put on my sons hazmat suit that he got for truck driving. It's meant to stop any
chemical leaks, fire proof and heat resistant. I must look funny in it! Lol too
bad they aren't around when i cook, jesse surely would take a pic and post it here!
He has his own account. And none of my children know my new password. Jesse also
put a block on my computer so that my kids can't take over anymore. SO JESSE IS THE
ONLY ONE TO BE ABLE TO POST A PIC LIKE THAT! LMBO!

    Smiles.
