Thread: My husbands cataract surgery

When the doctor went to get the cataracts out his cornea collapsed and the doctor had to make another incision to go under it and bring it back into place. I can't remember what he called it. But the thing they put in after removing the cataracts. He said he had to put in a larger one because of that. He told me it freaked him out a little when it collapsed. He said if he hadn;t been able to fix it he would have had to see a cornea specialist to repair it. But thank goodness he did. He said he wont have perfect sight because of that but it will be a lot beter. He said my husband had a lot of damage in that eye because when he was younger he got beat up really bad and it had done damge to his eye. He had to put in a few stitches so next month when he does the other eye he'll have to have them removed if they're bothering him. But all in all everything went good.

Glad to hear it ended up well. Just wait until he starts noticing colors. My Mom thought I had bought a green comforter to use in my very blue bedroom. After her surgery she looked in my bedroom and was amazed that the comforter was BLUE like the rest of the bedroom.

I'm really glad the doc was able to fix it and complete the surgery. I know how worried you were.

He wasn't able to see very good today at the folllow up. She said it might take time for the swelling to go down then he'll see better. His eye is blood red right now and swollen.

He went back to the doctor yesterday and he still can't see good. They flashed letters in a box on the wall and all he could see was the box no letters. The doctor said the five stitches are pulling on his eye distorting his vision. He has to go get the stitches removed on June 26. He said he should be able to see clearer then. He said he'll still have to wear glasses. The doctor doesn't want to do the other eye till he sees how this eye is going to be. If his eye doesn't get better my husbands not going to do the other surgery. He's scared it will turn out like this eye blurred.

Its been almost three weeks since the surgery and his vision is still really blurred. I hope his eye wasn't damaged when it collapsed. I guess we'll know the 26th on this month if its the stitches making it that way or not.
