How do you stop a tablecloth from sliding around?

I have a wooden table, I have never been able to use any kind of tablecloth on it because it slides around really bad. How do you stop that? I have been googling and all I come up with is a table pad. But they are vinyl on one side and felt I think on the other. Even with the felt side down and vinyl up wouldn't it still slide around with either the felt on the table or the tablecloth on the vinyl?

How about those strips that are used for throw rugs? You could cut them in smaller pieces and place along the edge of the table.

I put something in the center of mine. I have a glass bowl or candy dish I use. It seems to help hold it in place.

Yep, I guess that would do the trick.:LOL
I normally don't use one but my table is pretty scratched up,I wanted to use one to help cover the scratches from my cats. They seem to think they belong on the table and when we chase them off the claws get the table.

YEP! No matter how many times I spray them with water the kitties pull my tablecloth off.

My Mom use to buy table cloths that were vinyl with foam backing - they do NOT slip - however they are a pain to put on since the foam sticks in place and you have to get them straight the first time. I gave up using a table cloth - I use placemats but I don't have a cat and if my 40 lb dog got on the table the tablecloth would be the least of my worries. LOL

I haven't seen any tablecloths with foam backing, they are either some kind of cloth or the plastic ones with some kind of fuzzy backing. Not sure what the backing is for sure on them but they do slide.

I bought a new table and was bound and determined it not get scratched etc so I paid to have beveled glass put on top, wipes beautiful now and no scratches.
