It has been my experience it is better to go thru a third party site like expedia or hotwire to rent a car, sometimes you dont get the hugest discounts, sometimes you get GREAT deals....the key thing is that they offer unlimited miles and as far as I know when you rent directily from the company they do not offer that anymore

I rent cars all the time and have never had them charge for mileage. If you have AAA they have discounts available - I know this since I had to call them yesterday and part of their recorded message after you place a service call had that info. Also check with your credit card company sometimes they have special deals.

I have ALWAYS had to pay for mileage when I go directly through the company... I agree on going through a third company.

You need to try different companies - Enterprise, Avis and Hertz don't charge mileage. I go directly through the companies and rent cars in different states all the time for our service techs when they have to do service calls out of state. I rent cars for friends and family when they are coming to Orlando or when my car is in the shop and never get mileage charges.

It is funny that Jasmine listed retailmenot as I was going to suggest them but wasn't sure if they did car rental places.

My mom works for budget for quit some years now, use to work for Avis, I believe they might have emerged.? Dunno, don't keep up with it.
They do have some discounts like if you have AAA, I would just call around and ask different rental car companies if they are offering discounts and coupons and stuff.
Yes, I thought retailmenot had some pretty good offers up.

So, did you find anywhere with any good deals Airbuswife?

People think that there is a lot of room in a minivan. It is for people wise, seating. But not for a bunch of luggage and stuff in the back. I know the bigger cars have HUGE trunks. I forgot what brand/kind of car my friend rented, but she has 4 kids, then her and her husband, 6 in all, and she had a lot of room, including 2 car seats, and looots of luggage, plus a stroller in the trunk. The front was a bench seat. I have a grand marquis, and you can hide multiple bodies in my trunk LOL.
Just depends on what you want.

How many days are you renting it for?

Yes, it is a mercury, and I don't care if I drive a "granny" car LOL, it is the most comfortable car I have ever had, tons of room.....
oh I just text my friend, it was a lincoln continental. She said she rented it for a week for about $300 and they upgraded at no cost, and they had AAA for a discount. Like I said, they have 4 kids, with 2 carseats, tons of luggage in the trunk with a stroller, no problem for room. She said she rented it from Hertz, Tulsa OK.
