I would find a new Dr. your stomach expands and contracts when you eat and when the food is moved from the stomach.

My sister in law did this diet for about a yr. She lost 100 lbs. I think she figured it out to be about 800 calories a day. She lives alone so for her the $300 wasn't more than she spent on groceries. She finally went off it and said she can't eat a bite without gaining. In 3 months she's gained 46 lbs last I talked to her.

I would imagine that if you are serious about losing weight, Weight Watchers would be a WHOLE lot cheaper and just as good. You can cheat on any diet, if you want, no matter how much it costs.

I am leery of "buying" a diet plan from a doctor. I'd be afraid he is pushing it because he is getting a piece of the action for everyone he refers.

My husbands doctor also tried to sell him on this, he went as far as to sell our phone number & information to the Medifast Sales Rep.

thanks a lot. I have done weight watchers in the past and lost 25 lbs. still have it off and now am going back. This doctor also gave the same speech to a few of my friends so he must be getting a kickback......I thought so when he said " its affordable for you and I" hmmmmmmmmm I know what he makes is no where near what I make.....thank you all for being so honest and upfront....

I knew a lady that did it (for a while). she hated it, but did lose weight. Sadly, once off: they do not teach you how to eat properly. And maintain the weight.

ask another doctor what he recommends. Something with common foods (things in your local stores) and an exercise program would work best.

I knew an accupuncturistthat did a weight loss class. Charged $125 per person.

I can put it right here for free, and no needles in the outer ear:

Put 3/4 of what you normally eat on your plate. eat half of that
Drink fluids AFTER dinner, not during...
If you crave something... eat 3 bites of it: slowly.

Eat AIR POPPED unsalted popcorn as a snack.

    Avoid sodas (even diet ones).

WALK. Move, just be more active each day than the day before.

    Hope that helps

You can also drink a glass of water before a meal, Heard that works also. You can also use a smaller plate, don't eat in front of the TV, put your fork down between bites.

It is mostly common sense stuff, like eating more fresh fruits, eat less, move more type thing. You can do it on your own with a little (ok a lot lol) of determination. Make small goals, it is easier to achieve and will help you stick with it.

I just got a second opinion and yes the Medifast works while you are on it but after coming off of it every bite puts back some pounds As I said before THANK YOU folks.I trust your opinions more that anyone else's because somewhere one or more of you on on this forum has done or experienced most any thing.

I have the opposite problem, I have to gain weight but I have medical issues that make that difficult.
To lose weight you have to really limit carbs, refined sugars & saturated fats. My problem is digesting carbs & fats. I ate a cheesesteak last eek & suffered for 5 days.
I found the best tool for me was a rice steamer. I steam my rice & veggies. I also steam fish. No butter, no margerine, no oil & no sauces. I only have olive oil & grape oil in my home.
My poor son loves to cook & he will make this great dish & I can't eat it if he uses regular pasta.
Exercise, exercise, exercise even if you only walk around your block twice.
    Wish you the best luck.

Medifast is what Oprah used when she got really skinny that time. She said she was skinny like that for 1 day.
    I'm a Baha'i,ask me why.
