strawberry plants, blueberry plants, tomato plants

Have any of you tried any of the plants that we get email about or see advertised on tv? I would love to try them if they were as prolific as they say. The tomato plant that hangs upside down would be so nice to have on my deck outside my kitchen door and since we are in the south we could grow it for a long growing season. Today I got an advertisement for blueberries. I don't especially like them but they are supposed to be so good for you. And I also still have one on here for strawberries. I would love to grow them too. My son in law used to grow them and they were delicious.
Anyone tried any of these, no work, so easy to grow, plants.

The upside down tomato thing can be done with any 5 gal bucket and any tomato plant. There are directions in the gardening thread in the home section here at the forum. I haven't actually done it because I don't have to we have a lot of land. But it seems to be pretty easy.I haven't tried my hand at any of the other fruits except strawberries. I grow those in the ground but my grandma grows them in a planter on her back porch and they do well like that too. Good luck.

My neighbors have that hanging tomato plant. I didn't see anything amazing about it except it saved patio space for them. I'm kind of leery of buying anything that claims to produce amazing sized fruits, who knows what chemicals are in there! But if you are really interested I'd say check Walgreens or Walmart and get them cheaper than they are off the t.v. ads.

Walgreens has the strawberry and tomato ones, and one other one - not sure what it is. I thought about buying one for my son since he loves to garden and loves strawberries. We tried planting a garden but we had a psycho neighbor who helped herself to it all one night.

I did see this one plant, it grows strawberries above ground and potatoes underground. Thought it might be interesting to try out but didn't get around to ordering it. The fruit salad tree also sounded interesting. I'm usually willing to try something once or twice.

I always heard to plant those upside down tomatoes you need to hang them 6 foot in the air because tomatoes are so viney.

My Dad had the hanging upside down tomato plants on his patio last summer.
Did fine for a patio garden. They enjoyed the tomatoes.
    Happy gardening.

We have so much wind around here I didn't trust those hanging ones to last. I saw a few people had them and will see if they use them again this year. I just did not trust them to produce many tomatoes.

Also, the other plants may need special treatment, like growing medium and cultivation to get a good crop. I guess they will do good if you follow the instructions on where to plant and how to treat them. I did strawberries one year and got about one bowl of them. LOL

Apparently you can try this with peppers & melons, anything viney.

Here's an article where she did it with regular ol' plastic bags
    http://www.ehow.com/how_5083867_make...o-planter.html

I was going to try it this year with a 3liter plastic bottle, but then thought about the BPA from the plastic bottle....
