Cedar Point-The BEST Amusement Park!

My family went on a vacation when I was 10 yrs old, we were traveling in a winobago(sp) and I believe that when we got to Ohio, Cedar Point was the Amusement Park we went to, we stayed at a campground that was really close to the park. I swam in Lake Erie too! It was one of those vacations you never forget...I had the best time!!

Atprm you are so right about Mi...Use to be an OK state but chit cant afford to do anything now and everyone is moving out...What a shame!!!!

Just within my little area-Disneyland (I even know a shortcut there), Knott's Berry Farm. Beaches and mountains both within a couple of hours. Lego Land about another hour away. Then you have places in the L.A. area but I don't go there much. Really way too much to see and do.

Side Note: Is anybody from New Hampshire? I'm planning a big New England trip next year. Been to CT as DH's family is from there. Haven't been to ME or VT. Thank you for the suggestions on those states!

I'm from Detroit, so there is quite a bit to do in the Michigan.

1) The sports (Lions,Tigers, Wings)Downtown
2) Greektown
3) The DIA, Charles H. Wright African-American Museum, the Detroit Science Center and the Motown Hitsville Museum among others, which are all located within the city.
4) Wayne State University and University of Detroit Mercy respective campuses
5) The Detroit Opera House, the Fox Theatre, the Max. Fischer Center, the Bonstall, the Gem, the Filmore theatre, Orchestra Hall and so forth
6) Hart Plaza and the Riverfront boardwalk
7) The Redford Theatre (Lasher and 6 Mile area)
8) The Detroit Zoo (Royal Oak)
9) Dearborn with its museums (the Henry Ford and Greenfield Village) as well as its Middle Eastern cultured events/foods
10) West Michigan (Grand Haven/Muskegon area for an example)
11) Frankenmuth along with Bronner's
12) Mackinac Island
13) The Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City
14) The Greektown, MGM and Motorcity casinos in Detroit
15) The Pistons in Auburn Hills
16) The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor ( BO GLUE!)
17) Lansing, the State Capitol

This is just a brief list of the many notable attractions to Detroit and Michigan as a whole....

Yep, when you have a state as large as Texas, you have something for everyone! (I'm ignoring the comment about Bush, even though he has a ranch close to Waco.) Lots of state parks for every taste, historic locations, rivers, beaches, mountains.

Dallas - Fort Worth area has Six Flags over Texas (and other amusement parks), Texas Rangers baseball, the Kimball Museum (Ft. Worth) is great! -- State Fair in October in Dallas, Scarborough Faire in the spring just south of Dallas, lots of stuff I'm not remembering.

Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World - so they say They also have the largest urban bat colony in the nation (if not the world), Lady Bird Lake, which is actually part of the Colorado River, with great hike and bike trails, Austin City Limits Music Festival in the Fall, South by Southwest media and music in the spring, The University of Texas at Austin, with several museums, including the LBJ Library, arts and theatre stuff out the wazoo, good restaurants, and one of the many mottos associated with the city - Keep Austin Weird. Not too far from the Hill Country...

The Hill Country, an area west and a little north of Austin, has wineries, more bed and breakfast places than anyone could every use, wonderful peaches when they are in season, the Nimitz Museum (Fredricksburg -sp?), the LBJ Ranch, wildflowers in the spring that are awesome.

There is the Texas coast: Port Aransas, Rockport, Padre Island (very popular Spring Break destination), Corpus Christi (has a big aquarium) -- haven't been down around the coast any time recently for a vacation, though, so I'm a bit out of the loop.

West Texas - Davis Mountains, McDonald Observatory, El Paso (with a quick trip across the border to Mexico?)

South Texas - San Antonio with the Alamo, and the Tower of the Americas, the Riverwalk (okay, that area is more of a tourist trap, but still can be fun), Fiesta Texas. Oh, and Schlitterbahn -- a nationally recognized water park just a bit north of S.A. Further south -- Big Bend Park!


Whew. That's enough fun.
