Thread: cost of cigs in 99

I was cleaning out some of the household item receipts that we no longer need and found a reciept from 3/99 that had a carton of Marlboro Lts for $17.79!!


dang!!! Half the price they are now! SOOOOOOO glad I quit!!!

I quit in May 4 yrs ago, dh quit Thanksgiving the same year. If we were still smoking all of our money would be going for gas and cigarettes. I am so glad we quit.

thanks, I quit twice. First time for 2.5 yrs and then again for good. Between gas and cigs, we'd be broke!

Thanks for pointing that out. I do smoke and I think a carton of Marlboros here is about $45. I buy by the pack, and I think they are $4.26.

I remember my dad sending me to the corner store when I was about 10 to buy his cigarettes (early 80's) I remember him giving me a dollar and some change.

I think around here they are 38 a carton and about 3.90 pack. I too remember (in the 70s) going in as a 7 or 8 year old w/ 50 cents to get my mom's cigs!
