WOOHOO our town is gonna get a new school

we had to vote yesterday on the millage increase and it passed. That means we will be able to buy the land and build a larger school woohoo. We have been outgrowing ours for years now. We have many students that transfer in from another local town because of the fact that there is growing violence in that school.

Voters in the Horatio school district have spoken; they want to keep their school. With 553 voters voting in the election, three hundred and thirty one voted in favor of the 12 mill increase. Two hundred twenty-two voted against the increase. The Horatio School will now be able to move forward with their plans for building a new school. The new millage rate for Horatio Schools will now be 44 mills.

Glad to hear your getting a new school. Our levy failed which I am fine with. It didn't help much when it was time to vote on the levy that our teachers were throwing a fit that they were being asked to pay $33 every 2 weeks towards their health insurance premiums. Monthly premium for a family being well of $1200 which at the moment is being paid at 100%. They also wanted a larger percentage of a pay increase. After the levy failed the following week we heard about some administrators receiving raises etc. I hate to say it and many will disagree, but teacher have to know the average working pays about 50% of their health care and consider themselves fortunate. And with the economy how many of us are seeing pay increases.
