It is very expensive to eat and drink at Disney .. my sister and I took our kids on 2002 and it was $3.50 for a bottle of water and it wasn't a big bottle like you'd think. Also the food was pricey and so not worth the money.
As far as Disney, it was great and someday I'd like to go again, but I'd have to pack a cooler and leave it in the car .. lol.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Distance and time may separate us but friendship and memories won't.
~When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure~

Might find some useful info at http://www.mousesavers.com/meals.html We always ate big breakfasts before we entered the park. The Waffle House was reasonable.

I know my inlaws went and said you are able to bring in some food with you, she told me if I have a problem just to tell them that my children have allegeries and we have to bring our own food. I am so excited about going but that doesnt mean I am going to spend a ton of money to eat while we are there. Thankfully hotel and tickets are paid for from the prize win
Mom I miss you already

I have been trying to decide which one would be better for us, Disney or universal studios. I know it would be cheaper so that is a plus, but I have never been there and don't know to much about it. Is it like Disney in the idea that they have the same kind of rides and fun things? Money is going to be tight on this trip so I wanna get the most of what I can afford.

Well Disney & Universal are different as night & day. If you have small kids I would do Disney. And even the locals pack a lunch and go out to the car to eat & then go back into the park. Don't try to leave & get food - not worth the time or money. Keep in mind there are other things to do and have you even considered Sea World? You could do single day passes at WDW & Universal instead of a 4 day park pass at either one.
