I would suggest a bearded dragon b/c they do make excellent pets.. But your girls are a little young for the responsibilities of a lizard..Not saying they aren't responsible it's just that beardies require 10-20 minutes of care a day per tank and add 5 min per lizard..

Gecco's aren't that great either b/c you cannot really pick them up..

Yeah I'm a big help lol

Hubby wanted to get a chamelion (sp?). I said no. I'm not real fond of reptiles. I like them from a distance but not in my house. LOL
I dont think my girls would even touch a lizard. Wait maybe the little one would we havent found anything yet that she is scared of. LOL

I don't mean to disagree w/ everyone else... I just know how much fun birds are!
I have had birds in the past, parakeets and cockateel. I have had 3 in all , and all 3 would bite and draw blood. I would like to have another one, I enjoyed having it on my shoulder but I didn't like the biting and I am a little gun shy now about even putting my hand in the cage to change the food and water.

A friend of ours has birds and they bite. I defintely couldnt have them biting the kids. My oldest wont even stomp a spider with her shoes on I know she wont hold a bird if it even attempts to bite. LOL
