Re: Did your baby/child have GERD??
A gf of mine had trouble w/ her little one bringing everything back up and she had to go to Enfamil AR (thickened w/ rice). It stays down easier. No problems since and now he's a big ole boy!

Re: Did your baby/child have GERD??
My son drinks Alimentum, and takes liquid zantac. One of the best things I ever invested in- Dr.Browns bottles-- omg they help so much!!! And you can buy a walmart version, which is just as good. They are called Parents choice health check. It's also helpful if you raise the crib, or buy a tucker sling. Sleeping on the left side helps too. We also have to add 1 tablespoon of oatmeal cereal per ounce of water. (my little guy has it bad.) And he never did lose weight, he just didn't a good consistant gain. He's 6 months and is just 13 pounds.

Re: Did your baby/child have GERD??
Well, the formula has helped, but he is still in pain, so we got the liquid Zantac(insurance wouldnt cover the prevacid). Anyhow, that stuff is awful. I had no idea it was MINT flavored. Gabriel just spits it back out. I called the pharmacy and she said they could flavor it grape....wish they would have told me that before I had it filled I HATE WALGREENS pharmacy and I am switching, but thats a whole other story...lol
I am mixing it with his formula right now...not seeing a huge difference yet. He is still spitting up a TON! I think I'll try those bottles you recommended HumblePie, thanks

Re: Did your baby/child have GERD??
My son had reflux when he was 6 weeks old. He was put on liquid Zantac (he didn't seem to mind the mint flavor) and we were told to hold him upright for at least 20 minutes after each feeding. We also raised the head of his bed. I can't remember how long he was on the Zantac, but he eventually outgrew the reflux. Hang in there...it will get better!! (((HUGS)))

Re: Did your baby/child have GERD??
Hey, My Emily has reflux, I swear she had it in the hospital. It was so awful. The second day in there, she cried all day long, they just said she just wanted to suck. Well when we went home, she cried for 24 hrs none stop. I was at my wits end. I gave her formula and she spit up like crazy, arching her back, etc. So finally they put her on Zantac, it helped alittle, but not much so they up'd it. Well, that didn't work either. One night I was sitting here and couldn't stand seeing her in a pain and crying, the Zantac and gas drops were not working at all. so I took her to the ER, they admitted her and ran an ultrasound on her chest and she had GERD, so the doc put her on Zantac and Reglan. OMG that WORKED!! So asked your doctor about Reglan too, it helps with the spit up and stuff. Those two together helped Emily out. And don't worry, they grow out of it by the time they are a year old to 15 months. Emily still spits up every now and then and she is 17 months old and on 2% milk, but its only when she is congested! I hope that helps. Ask about Reglan though..

Re: Did your baby/child have GERD??
Oh and Don't GIVE UP!! Keep bugging the doctor about it til they do something. I wasn't getting any sleep or anything. Emily was on Zantac at 2 wks old and then on Reglan when she was 9 wks old. It help wonders and keep giving gas drops too. All three working together helps!! I hope you get the help and meds you need! HUGS

Re: Did your baby/child have GERD??
Oh mama talking here, ITS COLIC!!!
My oldest had it. Nothing but time and soy formula. But now they have those new formulas out. Back in my "baby days" all we had was Prosobee.I hope the new formula and zantac works. And the oldest throw up all the time too. It is pure torture on the mother but can you imagine the baby, Hang in there.

My son had this too. He was on Prosobee and prevacid. He is 16 months and has outgrown the gerd. Give the Zantac time, it usually takes about a week to start working. Good luck!
