Re: feeling stupid shocked and numb
First off CONGRATS!!!!!! Even though this child wasn't planned, I am sure he/she will be loved and it was meant to be.
Perhaps when this child is born, you can get your tubes tied or banded. I got mine banded when I was 30 and it's been great. It is reversable in case I change my mind (which I haven't lol)
Good luck and take care of the two of you

Re: feeling stupid shocked and numb
I really think that things happen for a reason. I am not a super religious person or anything, but I think God has a plan for everybody. So that child has a pretty important reason to come into this world. I got pregnant while on birth control before I turned 18 and I thought it was the end of the world. But the 1st time I felt my baby girl move, it was heaven! That totally changed the way I felt. And now she is 16 and I cannot imagine what life would have been like without her! You can't change things, all you can do is make the best of it. Once the shock wears off, you will be able to think more clearly and this baby will be a blessing. If not to you then maybe to another childless couple who has been waiting a long time for a baby. It will all work itself out. Good luck!

Re: feeling stupid shocked and numb
Congratulations. My youngest son came as a total surprise. My older kids are 19, 17, and 16. My youngest just turned 8 on Saturday. At first I felt resentful when I found out I was pregnant. I figured I would be in my mid-forties when all my other kids were done with school. Having my youngest was like starting over. I love him to death though and would die if anything happened to him.

Re: feeling stupid shocked and numb
This baby will keep you young. My mother had me when she was 39 and I was the her baby forever. I even had her live with me and my hubby for seven years before she had to go into a carehome. She died this year at the age of 97 and I miss her so much.
My sister and two brothers weren't as close as I was to my mother. I think having a baby older in life makes you want to spend more time with the baby.

Re: feeling stupid shocked and numb
thanks for all the comments and support. I am feeling a lot better about it now that a few days have gone by to let it sink in. I just hope that with me being 40, the baby will be okay. I have been praying for strength and it has helped a lot. I know God has a plan for my little suprize. Believe me, the tubes will be tied, I must be super fetrtile for this to have happened. The rest of the family are excited but still in shock. My 8yo daughter is sad she will no longer be the baby! Hubby is still walking around like a zombie, but he will be great, as always.
thanks again, your views help a lot.
