I have a question about obtaining a copy of a birth certificate from Kentucky
My youngest son was born in Fulton, KY and my DH lost the only birth certificate we had when he took him to the hospital one night. He also lost his social security card.
Anyway, I need to get a copy of his birth certificate but I don't know what to do because I live in Ohio now. So how can I go about getting a copy? Do I need a form from the exact county he was born in or can I get a form or copy from any county in Kentucky? My mom lives on the WV/KY border, so she could run and get me a form if I can do that. Does anyone here know if that would be ok? Please help! I need a copy of his birth certificate so I can get another copy of his social security card too. TIA!

Re: I have a question about obtaining a copy of a birth certificate from Kentucky
My son was born in KY in 1979 my husband was in the service then. I had to get his through Vital something or other. I got the wallet card as well as the regular one for him. Everyone has accepted it that he has needed his birth certifacate for.

Re: I have a question about obtaining a copy of a birth certificate from Kentucky
Glad you got the info you needed. I'm in NC but needed a copy of my birth certificate from MI when I applied for social security. Only took a couple weeks to get it in the mail. I needed to mail them a check for $10 I think along with the web form I printed and sent with the check. Sounds hard but simple for this senior frazzled mind.

You should be able to go to your local health dept and they should be able to give you the information you need.

Re: I have a question about obtaining a copy of a birth certificate from Kentucky
If your Mom wanted to take a trip to Frankfort, she could go to the Dept of Vital Statistics in KY and pick up a copy of his birth certificate for you. All she would need is his birthday, the name (including maiden name) of the mother and $10. That's how we have gotten all of our birth certificates in my family.
