Question Question for women.... Very Personal....

I just have a quick question for the women of this group. I hope this is ok to post. I have really weird periods. I mean sometimes I wont get them at all. Due to the fact I have cysts on my ovaries. But this is just really bugging me. This time it is so light, that I barely know I am on it, and this is the second day. I only have them for 3 days, so I dunno how to take this. I know I am on it, because I am a pain in the butt (LOL). Should I go to a doctor? Its confusing to me....

Also, another question for the ladies.... Personally do you swim while you are on it? I usually dont, but Im gunna (lol)... But do you stay out, or just swim away?

    Thanks gals

    Jen

How long since you have been to the gyno? I have had wacky periods every once in awhile for 2 or 3 years and been to the gyno for several problems. The last one was in Feb for a cyst that was quite large. I am afraid they are going to tell me next week at my sono they want me to get surgery and I am TERRIFIED of being 'put under.' (sorry not trying to hyjack your thread).

I don't swim when I have my period, but I used to when we had a pool.

If you have wacky periods, I suggest going to the gyno and having your hormones tested.

    Good luck.

I always went swimming if I had my period. I was never a pad person, always used tampons. There is NO medical reason to stay out of the water, and the exercise will help if you have cramps. As for the period problem, I would go to a doctor and get it checked out. I don't think that having light flow periods is anything to worry about, but certain types of cysts can cause problems, and women should go to a GYN EVERY 6 months anyway. Good Luck!

Yikes... Sounds like your in the same boat as me.. Two of mine are the size of baseballs, and I have 10 other little ones. I have to go in every year. But I know they are going to change that soon. Especially if they grow. But I know they are, because my stomach is getting flatter, but that part is getting bigger...

    Thanks everyone for your help.

Consider getting them removed. Depending on your age and where you are in your life cycle. I was 38 and had 3 children. I put up with the misery caused by them for about 3 years and finally said this is enough. My doctor had been suggesting a hysterectomy with oophrectomy so I decided to do it.
It was the best thing I ever did for myself. No more cramps, no more unexpected bleeding, no more of that awful moodiness. I have never regretted it.

Jump in that pool, girl! I think being in the water always make you feel better. Thats why I like tampons.
I don't have any cysts (that I know of) but I have always had wacky periods too.
I hope you have fun whatever you decide (to swim or not to swim)

Freebeemom? Were you asking me? I had a sono in October and it was fine(no cyst). Had one in Feb as a follow up to my gyno problems and they found it. I have to go back and get another on Saturday and I am dreading it. I DON'T want surgery.

buglebe---I am 38 now. Did having the cyst(s) out help you? I hate having wacky (irregular) periods. I don't think this was my original problem, but I have always felt "something" on my left side.

Personally, I cannot invision having a hysterectomy at MY age unless they find something "serious." I only have one child but you never know...? If they suggest surgery, I am getting a second or third opinion...

It is worth talking to your doctor over it. I unlike you have very long and heavey bleeding(15 days at a time) and will be having the big H on the 9th and willl never worry about it again. As for swiming I was never able to because if I did they would have thought that the red sea was parting again. Sorry I know that was TMI

I thought the surgery was the best thing for me. To start with I didn't want my ovaries out until the doctor explained the importance. They were the purpose for the surgery. In your situation I would not consider surgery. I had all the children I could have because of other medical reasons. After he did the surgery he told me I had endometrioses that was causing a lot of my pain. It was just the perfect solution for me and each one of us has a different situation. Like you I had very light periods that could last one day to 2 weeks, and I never knew when to expect it. Try another doctor if you are not happy with what this doctor suggest and if there is any possibility of you wanting another child then definitely do not have surgery. Good luck.
