It depends on if you're going to try to go light - or have lots of fun. Food is really expensive - if you are staying at disney you could probably estimate 20 - 30 a day per person. With rising gas prices your best bet is to go to one of the online maps figure out the mileage & figure how many gallons you'll need. Add at least $100 on top of that. Souveniers - are you planning on picking up something for other people - or just yourself? That could vary significantly. $1000 would be a good round number - just make sure you budget and keep enough aside for the trip home. $1500 would give you more to play with.

I know exactly how you feel. Tigger is my favorite. I work for Disney and I have several shelves full of Tigger stuff.
Hubby and I went and spent about $100 a day on food and souveniers alone. Park entrance fees run around $50 a day...but you can get hopper passes which are cheaper. (I got in free so didn't have those expenses.)
If you stay on resort property...you will not need to drive around as there are shuttles, boats, buses, etc. to get around from park to park. That will save gas money!
On property hotels run around $100 a night AND UP!!!
Food is very expensive...particularly in the parks. However, you can reduce some of your expenses by bringing snacks and breakfast foods with you and keeping them in the hotel room.
If you were flying...you can actually mail a box of non-perishable food items ahead of time to the hotel and have it waiting there for you.
Go on-line and check resort package prices.
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

Well, we just got back from Disney World. We flew, so I can't help you with the travel expenses. I will tell you, we had four of the kids with us, and the food was a killer, cost wise. A cheap meal, say a hot dog, fries and a drink from Casey's Corner, ran around $7. Some food is way more expensive...I don't think you'd find anything cheaper. We didn't do much souvenier shopping. (We hit the Disney Factory Outlet Store before we got there and saved a bundle) But prices I do remember were ink pens (for the autograph books the kids used) were $3. We bought an umbrella for $6, and I remember a character beach towel was $22. The mylar balloons were $6. Bottled water was $3. Just to give you a rough idea how truly expensive Disney World is. With 6 of us, after airfare and motel, we managed on about $200 a day. (However, that was budgeting our money; we couldn't afford to go hog wild.)
The worst part about going to Disney World, leaving behind the Michigan weather, is you have to come back sooner or later.
If the mailman knew that my heart races when the UPS man comes by, would he still bring me freebies?
