How can I make my daughter stop grinding her teeth!??
Bree is 11 months old and ever since she got her top TOOTH (not teeth, what kinda kid gets one top tooth?)she's been grinding her bottom teeth against it and not only does it drive me crazy, it's not great for her teeth either. I've asked people before but all they tell me is give her something to chew on... but she's always got a toy near. Sometimes she'll have a toy in her hand and still do it... I try and give her a binky as much as possible but that only works for a couple of minutes. Any ideas would be great... thanks!

Lol, thanks Ravenlost. I appreciate your sympathy... I think I'm gonna lose it soon though. I can't even describe how it makes my mouth feel when I hear it... it's like, ah, I can't even describe it!! Lol, but it really makes me crazy!

no advice - my mom grinds her teeth, so do I, and so does my son (he's 3, and has ground his teeth ever since he got enough to do so) - my dentist told me the only thing to stop it was to get a mouthguard to wear at night! My son doesn't do it as much anymore (not on purpose anymore), but he will do it at night still sometimes. It's a horrible noise! You could always check with a pediatric dentist? But mouthguards (the custom fit ones) are expensive, and I don't think they make them for babies!

My son who is 2 yrs old does this to. He has since he was real little. I asked his doctor about it and she said he would probably grow out of it. I hope he does, soon. lol
I started grinding mine too after I had my wisdom teeth cut out. My dentist had to make me a mouth guard to wear at night. I don't do it though. lol

maybe a cold washcloth? I know that is for teething babies but I'm wondering if the new sensations of cold and the texture of washcloth would help....

My son has gotten to where he bites on his blankie and its helped. At least I don't have to hear the grinding sound anymore. lol

Oh Candice, I know exactly what you mean. My grandson and my granddaughter both grit their teeth at night. My grandson is the worse. It literally drives me up the walls. He even chews on a blanket at night but then when he falls asleep and loses it, that's when the grinding start. ARRRRGHHHH!!!! It's worse than fingernails on the chalk board.
If guns kill people, I can blame misspelled words on my pencil.

AHHH !!! MY SON WAS GRINDING HIS TEETH
YESTERDAY ~ALL DAY !! DROVE ME NUTS.
WHEN I STOPPED TELLING HIM TO NOT TO DO IT,
HE STOPPED DOING IT !! LIL' {{BRAT}} !!
SO MY ADVICE IS TO IGNORE HER.
I THINK MY SON LIKED THE ATTENTION HE GOT FROM DOING IT.
(HE KNEW IT DROVE ME NUTS)
GOOD LUCK !!
