info on Netzero and/or Juno please
I have found that I now have local access to NetZero and Juno and was wondering if anyone out there can tell me how good they are? Would really hate to give up my local ISP if these do not allow me good access (ie. constantly kicked offline, etc). But that 9.95 cost sure does look a lot better than 22.50 a month.
Thanx in advance,
Adair

AHA! Thank you for posting this! Sarah now has access as well. Or will, once she moves to the city. (St. Louis is a LD call from here) She'd be VERY interested in ANY free internet service!

Speaking for myself (knocking on some HUGE wood here), I've used Juno (@9.95/month) for quite a while & have had no problems at all with it. I always (knocking again) get connected when I want to and only every once in awhile (knocking again) do I ever get booted. Although I have referred 2 people (you're SUPPOSED to get $20 per referral) & have never gotten paid for either of them (& have sent many e-mails about this, which were never replied to). One other thing, my mom was one of my referrals (she pays via check, every 5 months) & just a week or so ago they cut her off saying she didn't pay the bill. Well, she promptly called them & told them that she did in fact pay & had the cancelled check to prove it. She was back on later the same day! I pay via credit card. Sometimes I will have it on my bill, but some months they don't bill the credit card in time & I have no charge, but then the next month it will be doubled, no big deal to me though.
One thing to consider though is that you only get one web-based email account, so if you have multiple users, and want privacy, I would suggest getting a free email service. You can have regular email accounts threw them (in each person's name) but you won't be able to connect to the web with them.
As far as their free service, forget it!!! Years ago, when I first started with them, I had their free service and it was fine, but then they started only letting me on at 4am!!!
Hope I answered all of your questions. Good Luck!!

Thanks to all that have replied so quickly....I have been reading the comments on Juno and NetZero and it is debatable........I have found that Wal-Mart offers an ISP also and there is a 30 day trial period. I am going to peruse all the items in here and see what else I may find.
If anyone out there has tried Wal-Mart, do you have any comments?

If you are like most AOL users, AOL is the only Internet provider you've ever known.
So you probably don't know why you pay more, but don't have the same features as non-AOL users.
You probably don't know:
1. That you can KEEP your AOL email address, switch to Triton-- and still save money!
2. Why AOL thinks you need keywords?
3. The difference between a tool and a toy when it comes to a web browser.
4. If AOL is really just for kids who want to meet people?
5. If others believe that an aol.com name in your email address is a reflection of your Internet IQ?
6. If all Internet services use pop up ads?
You be the judge: If we've aroused your curiosity as to whether there is "life after AOL", go immediately to http://209.172.10.39/aol or www.triton.net/aol to take a quick 10 question
"Am I ready to leave AOL" test. It's an eye-opener. Even if you aren't ready to switch, you'll still learn a lot.
HERE'S OUR DEAL:
Try Triton.net's Internet Service free, with--no obligation-- for the next 2 months. We'll throw in a 200 Minute, Long
Distance Calling Card. That's over 3 hours of free long distance calling.
You can try Triton side by side WITHOUT AFFECTING your AOL service.
You have a lot to gain. Nothing to lose!
Your Triton service includes;
1. A useful and personalized startpage which becomes your own customized information center. Check it out right now. http://209.172.10.39/ or http://www.triton.net
PLUS
2. Ability to purchase rechargeable 4 cent per minute calling cards.
3. Full Newsgroups Access - The Internet world (Microsoft, Netscape) has misnamed this exciting part of the Internet because it's much more than just news. If you've never been here or seen our Newsgroup coverage, you're really missing something. Fewer than 15% of all Internet users even know it exists. If this includes you, you owe it to yourself to see the rich content of the Newsgroups and participate, too. It's like discovering another room in your house! View movies, photos, hear music, join in discussions on your favorite topics, get answers from experts. You'll appreciate the one-click step to view pictures. Multimedia movies and music are easier, too. Because we take the newsgroups seriously, you'll find more articles plus full movie and music files.
4. 24/7 people-ready customer service.
5. V.92 modem compatability in many areas--If your modem supports v.92 your computer will become "phone-friendly". You can pause your Internet connection while you make or receive calls. Call your phone company and cancel that 2nd phone line.
6. Thousands of local access numbers throughout the US. Connect while you travel. Check for your area here http://209.172.10.39/accessNumbers.php
7. Personal filing cabinet-- Ideal for sharing photos and other large files that are sometimes difficult to move through email. Use it as an expansion of your hard drive like a private offsite storage facility.
8. Remote email access--Do Triton e-mail or your AOL email from anyone's computer.
9. Unlimited triton.net email addresses.
We've set aside this free Internet account just for you. It's ready for use-- right now!
Activate it with just a few mouseclicks. Judge for yourself.
We're not going to bug you for a credit card either, after all, this IS a free trial.
*(I don't know anything about this, I just received it in the mail.
The two free months sounds good though! You can always move on after that

I have both
I signed up for both of them. I hardly ever use Net Zero, though. I love Juno. I do pay for my service. The free service was good, but they said that I was a heavy user and needed to upgrade to the paid subscription. Also I was disconnected a lot when it was free. I think they do that on purpose so that you will get aggravated and upgrade! So as soon as I upgraded, I have had no problems. I love it. I refuse to pay for AOL. You can also use AOL Instant Messaging with Juno, which is great.

thought Id check it out as an alternative to aol.. from what I saw it is 19.99 a month plus 3.00 for paper bills. You get a free month if you get someone else to sign up.?? and they do ask for a credit card.
thanks though.

We are too far out into nowhere to get AOL or Earthlink or some of the others
..........so far, I have found just a few that will carry out here to nowhere (netzero, juno, wal-mart).
My local ISP has been good, but they seem to be dropping out too much lately to suit me and was looking for something that was cheaper and more reliable for useage.
Pls give me all your ideas so that I can research them

I've had a few friends that had Netzero and Juno. It was fine if you were online less than 40 hours a week. Most have gone with their local phone company. That's what we did with bellsouth. 1st month free, then $15.95 a month. And wouldn't you know it, about 3 months later they did a special for $9.95 a month for the 1st 3 months. Why is it we buy something and then it goes on sale for even lower than the sale price we got something for in the first place....Must be that Murphy law thingy
