Re: BBS OWN Stop Smoking SUPPORT thread:)
The only thing that made me quit smoking was finding out I was pregnant, so I haven't had a cigarette since 10-21-06! I can't stand women who don't quit when they're pregnant.

Re: BBS OWN Stop Smoking SUPPORT thread:)
some days are harder than others, even with some time under you. today's been the first day in a couple of years i felt the need to smoke. i haven't smoked in 7 years, so i keep my mind on other things. like breathing.
the cravings of those coffin-nails will die. i was addicted to it, but i'm free of it. some days are better than others, but a bad day without smokes is better than a good day smoking.
please repeat to yourself,"it's just a post, i should really just relax...."

For me it has been 1 year 7 months and 25 days. I made sure that I quit as a 30th birthday present to myself. I go through most days not even thinking about it. But all of the sudden, I get that urge. But that urger goes as quickly as it came because I keep telling myself I am healthier for and my teeth are whiter because of it and my life is better. Not to mention the money that I am saving my family.
I quit cold turkey. I smoked my last pack and the next day I didn't buy anymore when I went to the gas station when I got gas. I didn't go outside with the girls when they had a cigarette on break. It was hard, but smelling them after they came in from having one made me realize that is not what I wanted to be. It worked.
Good Luck to all of you!
I know it is hard.
I have been there.
Just one hour, one day, one week, one month at a time. I never thought I would make it. but I sure did.
Just be proud of every minute you are not smoking.
Take it from there.
Hugs to you all!

Ok I have tried the last few days and although I have cut back I am still smoking.
I heard very good things about the new drug Chantix. But at $140 a month it wasn't something I was gonna run out and get (I know it cost more to smoke, but not all at one time) I also heard that insurance will not cover it.
On a whim I called my insurance company and asked if it was covered, I had looked at their website and it was not listed as a cover drug so I was sure it wasn't . Much to my surprise she told me if I enroll in a support group by online/phone they would give my pharmacy an authorization code and it would be covered!! I filled out the initial online part and am waiting for a coach to call me so I can set up the rest. I just set up an appointment with my doctor to get the drug as well. I set Aug 1st as my quit date (time to get all the authorization in place).
So come Aug 1st it is serious time for quitting!!!!
