Re: BBS OWN Stop Smoking SUPPORT thread:)
Thanks for the encouragement. It helps a great deal. DH is planning to quit and I am thrilled about that. (I just wish he'd hurry up) I'm doing okay, I really think I'm done with the nasty things. Thanks for checking on me

Re: BBS OWN Stop Smoking SUPPORT thread:)
" When confronted with a mountain, the secret to climb to the very top is not to look at it as one big obstacle, but rather many small obstacles. If a mountain is 8,000 metres high, think of it as eight 1,000 metre obstacles. When confronted with large problems, try to break them up into smaller ones by taking it one step at a time. When we do this and reach the top, the outlook is great."

Re: BBS OWN Stop Smoking SUPPORT thread:)
below i have c&ped something that someone on another site/forum i belong to posted about quitting smoking...just thought i would put it out there for anyone who might be interested....GREAT going to those who are still going strong with the not smoking!!!!!take it one day at a time and if you fall off the wagon, just hop back on.
"My DH and I have smoked for many many years. We quit for two of the eight years we’ve been together, but for some dumb reason started again. I can’t even begin to count how many times we’ve attempted to quit (and if we don’t do it together, forget about it J
Our doctor recommended a newer drug called Chantix. It tricks your body into thinking that it is getting more nicotine than it really is, even though it does not contain nicotine. You begin the drug, continue to smoke, but set a quit date. I went from a pack a day to 2-4 smokes a day, all in a week and a half. The awesome part is that we’re not even grumpy, cuz we can still smoke, we just don’t feel like it. It has a success rate of 70%, compared to 30% with other methods.
There are very few side affects, and neither of us have experienced any of them. The only bad thing is that it is expensive. We have good insurance, and it was still $114 per person for one month, and it is a recommended 3 month program.
Anyway, just because I’m so impressed, I wanted to share, and maybe you’ll share with someone close to you that smokes."

Re: BBS OWN Stop Smoking SUPPORT thread:)
i just wanted to add that while that program sounds expensive, smoking is actually more expensive, in more ways than one...it sounds like a lot of money to shell out at once, but add up how much ciggies cost per month plus doctor bills every time you get bronchittus, or worse--something much worse later down the road..

Re: BBS OWN Stop Smoking SUPPORT thread:)
Chantix is the new hot topic, for certain. I'm sure it works for lots of folks, but given it's cost, I think I'd check out several articles before buying it. There seem to be a lot of inconsistencies in it's reported success rate, and even the manufacturer (Pfizer) doesn't give it a 70%.
