Van Jones: Dems Should Use Ebola As Campaign Talking Point Against GOP
By Jeffrey Meyer | October 5, 2014
It appears as though former Obama official Van Jones has taken Rahm Emmanuel’s belief that you never “want a good crisis go to waste” to heart during a Sunday appearance on ABC’s This Week w/ George Stephanopoulos. During a panel discussion on the upcoming midterm elections, Jones suggested that Democrats should point out that the “Ebola thing is the best argument you can make for the kind of government that we believe in.”
http://www.mrctv.org/videos/van-jone...-talking-point
After host George Stephanopoulos highlighted how “Nate Silver's team at FiveThirtyEight gives the GOP a 59% of retaking the Senate” Van Jones shamefully urged Democrats to use Ebola as a talking point in 2014:
We can't let the Republicans get away with some of the stuff they’re doing this week, just trying to bash Obama. Hey, you know, government is always your enemy until you need a friend. This Ebola thing is the best argument you can make for the kind of government that we believe in.
A year ago Ted Cruz shut down America's government, shut down the CDC over shenanigans. What if that happened this year? You got to start putting the Republicans on the defensive for the fact that they believe that you can take a wrecking ball to America's government, never pay a price.
ObamaCare means that 8 million people who couldn't have gone to the doctor last year, if they feel sick today, they would if they got Obama, they can go see the doctor. The Democrats have got to start talking like that.
See relevant transcript below.
ABC’s This Week w/ George Stephanopoulos
October 5, 2014
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Back now with our “Politics Buzz Board.” Topping it off, just one month from election day, ISIS invading campaign airwaves. Tough GOP ads in tight senate races from New Hampshire to Colorado like this one in North Carolina from Thom Tillis.
UNKNOWN PERSON: While ISIS grew, Obama kept waiting and Kay Hagan kept quiet.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Hagan fired back.
KAY HAGAN: I think North Carolinians need to know his position and he is spineless in this regard.
STEPHANOPOULOS: President Obama talking about the economy and his agenda.
BARACK OBAMA: I'm not on the ballot this fall but make no mistake these policies are on the ballot. Every single one of them.
STEPHANOPOULOS: But was it smart to make the midterms an Obama referendum? GOP candidates pounced and new grandmother Hillary Clinton is hitting the trail. Politico reports that she'll barnstorm key midterm states like Colorado, Iowa and New Hampshire when not babysitting Charlotte. Add it all up and Nate Silver's team at FiveThirtyEight gives the GOP a 59% of retaking the Senate, down one point from last week. Back with the roundtable, Mark Halperin, Bloomberg, is Nate Silver right to move just an inch away from the Republicans?
MARK HALPERIN: I don’t know. In the world of margins of errors, I'm not sure that's much of a move. You know, right now Democrats must change the electorate and I think the reason you see President Obama injecting his economic record in and you see him attacking Fox News in that same speech is because they need to change the electorate, they need to get the coalition of the ascended, the Obama voters who don't normally vote in the midterms to vote in places like North Carolina and Iowa. Go race by race today, they’ve got three of the six in the bag.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Republicans.
HALPERIN: Republicans do. I think right now they would get the final three. Kansas, though, is a huge problem for the Republicans. They may end up netting five, even though they win six.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Pat Roberts not closing the gap there at all. Van Jones, I have to ask you this. I understand what Mark [Halperin] is saying about energizing the Obama electorate, but it did not seem like a wise move for the president to put his agenda front and center.
VAN JONES: Well, we’ve to get our base going. The other thing too is that we can't let the Republicans get away with some of the stuff they’re doing this week, just trying to bash Obama. Hey, you know, government is always your enemy until you need a friend. This Ebola thing is the best argument you can make for the kind of government that we believe in. Hmm. Interesting. Looks like The Israeli National News website changed their original story. This could mean a lot of things. Here is a video that discusses this topic.
This quote found on the Inquisitr site sums up this ordeal.
"Unfortunately, rumors and misinformation have been rampant since the Dallas Ebola outbreak."
This is true for all news media. They are attempting to control our behavior and opinions.

Ebola in Spain: 4 people including nurse hospitalized in Madrid
Health officials in Madrid say three more people are in the hospital on suspicion of contracting Ebola. The news comes a day after a nurse who treated two Ebola patients at a city hospital became infected with the disease. One has tested negative.
The nurse is now being treated with a drip using antibodies from those previously infected with the virus, Reuters reports. Approximately 22 people who have been in contact with the woman, dubbed by media the "Spanish Ebola nurse," have been identified and are being monitored, Madrid health officials told reporters Tuesday.
The officials added that the hospitalized include the nurse's husband, another health worker and a traveler who had spent time in one of the affected West African countries. One of the hospitalized - the female health worker- was reported to have tested negative for Ebola late on Tuesday, according to a Reuters health source in Spain. She had displayed only one potential symptom - diarrhea - but was not running a fever.
Spain's Public Health director, Mercedes Vinuesa, told parliament that authorities were compiling a list of everyone who had come in contact with the nurse so that they could be monitored, AP reports.
Vinuesa said Spain had several treatments available and was employing them Monday. The unidentified nurse is reportedly in stable condition.
The 44-year-old woman is the first known person to have become infected with Ebola outside of Africa during the current outbreak. Other cases in Spain – and recently, the US – involved individuals contracting the disease while in Africa and then traveling back to their home countries. The nurse had reportedly helped treat a Spanish missionary and a Spanish priest, both of whom came down with the virus while in West Africa and later died after returning to Spain.
There is currently no proven known cure or human-safe vaccine for Ebola, which is spread via bodily fluids. Initial symptoms of fever and sore throat develop into vomiting, diarrhea and profuse internal and external bleeding. Victims may die of multiple organ failure within days of first contact, with some strains killing up to 90 percent of sufferers.
The latest outbreak first struck the West African state of Guiana in December 2013. World Health Organization (WHO) officials, however, did not become aware the disease was raging in the country's south until March 23, 2014. It has since spread to neighboring Senegal, Liberia and Sierra Leone and Nigeria. Due to a rapid response by authorities in Nigeria and Senegal, infections in both states combined were kept below two dozen.
Apart from Spain, the United States is the only other non-African country to register a case of Ebola. On September 20, an infected man traveling from Liberia arrived in Dallas, Texas. He reportedly started exhibiting symptoms of the disease 4 days later. US health officials are currently monitoring 10 quarantined people who had contact with the man, who remains in critical condition.
The WHO has reported a total of 7,493 Ebola infections worldwide. At least 3,439 people are estimated to have died after contracting the disease.
In September, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predicted that 1.4 million people could contract Ebola by the end of January barring drastic attempts to head off the spread of infection.
Equipment and procedures failure
Spanish authorities have come under increasing pressure to explain how the disease was able to spread in one of their hospitals. While they say all proper procedures were followed while providing care to the deceased missionaries, reports to the contrary have surfaced.
According to The Guardian, staff at the hospital said waste from the rooms of both patients had been carried out in the same elevator used by all personnel. The hospital was also reportedly not evacuated when the second patient, Garc*a Viejo, was taken in to receive treatment.
Union workers also accused the government of providing hospital staff with inadequate protective clothing.
Some Spanish health workers' representatives said the situation should prompt an overhaul of procedures and facilities used to treat those afflicted with the virus.
“Something went wrong,” Máximo Gonzalez Jurado, head of Spain’s General Nursing Council, told Spanish news agency EFE. “They need to establish if the protocol is correct or not correct so that a case like this, that never should have happened, doesn’t happen again.”

Dallas Mayor Excited to Have Lying Liberian Ebola Patient: ‘He’s Our Citizen Now’
October 7, 2014 By TPNN Staff
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings seems to be celebrating the Liberian man with the highly contagious and deadly Ebola virus, Thomas E. Duncan, who lied on an airport questionnaire about his prior exposure to the disease in order to enter the U.S. with the hope of receiving treatment. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/03/wo...screening.html
“We’re all rooting for this guy, the Democrat mayor told WFAA, News 8. “He’s our citizen now,” Rawlings proudly boasted about the Ebola patient from Liberia who entered the U.S. illegally. http://www.wfaa.com/story/news/healt...tions/16793267
As Twitchy pointed out, not everybody thinks welcoming Ebola into Dallas with open arms, when the man lied to enter the U.S., is such a great idea. http://twitchy.com/2014/10/06/dallas...r-citizen-now/
For example, MTV Star Chet Cannon tweeted:
Chet Cannon ✔ @Chet_Cannon
Selfless act to carry Ebola victim to hospital,
but incredibly SELFISH to have boarded a plane to the US,
having carried someone with Ebola.

okay let me get this straight.....the dallas mayor calls an illegal a citizen where this illegal lied to get into the US, could potentially spread a fatal disease (ebola) and is costing taxpayers for his medical care at an amount that probably could support multiple real american citizens for years - these same citizens who may not have enough money for their own health care. therefore i get to the conclusion that this mayor believes that the life of a lying illegal is worth more than an american citizen who pays this mayors salary. I feel sick!

Second Dallas-Area Patient Exhibiting Ebola Symptoms – Had Contact with Duncan [Frisco, TX]
By Brian Hayes on October 8, 2014
An afternoon news conference has been called in Frisco, a suburb of Dallas, to discuss a possible second case of Ebola. The patient claims to have had contact with Thomas Eric Duncan, referred to as Dallas ‘patient zero,’ according to CBS 11 Dallas: http://dfw.cbslocal.com/?lead=frisco...ebola-symptoms
It is not clear how the patient had contact with Duncan or if the patient was one of the about 50 people being monitored by federal, state and local health officials.
The call came in shortly after noon from Care Now, 301 Main Street, Frisco, where the patient was “exhibiting signs and symptoms of Ebola.”
CBS 11 has confirmed that the patient checked yes to one of the screening questions regarding travel to West Africa. The facility is in contact with the Centers for Disease Control and is holding everyone in the facility until receiving clearance from the CDC.
The patient is being transported to a nearby hospital by Frisco firefighter-paramedics.
So “Patient #2″ also “traveled to West Africa.” Can we finally restrict travelers from the Ebola “hot zone” NOW, Mr. President?
–
UPDATE 3:47pm CST: Massive response at the urgent care center where Patient #2 is being held. Other patients also being held at the facility.
UPDATE 4:04pm CST: Patient has been transferred to Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas

Thomas Eric Duncan, Liberian Ebola Patient in Dallas, Dies
By Brian Hayes on October 8, 2014
Thomas Eric Duncan, the first person to rest positive for the Ebola virus in the United States, died Wednesday (Oct. 8) morning at 7:51 a.m., Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas announced today.
Duncan had been receiving the experimental drug brincidofovir since Saturday. The latest update on his condition, released yesterday afternoon by the hospital, was that he was on a ventilator and had been receiving kidney dialysis.
A statement from the hospital about the news of Duncan’s passing reads:
It is with profound sadness and heartfelt disappointment that we must inform you of the death of Thomas Eric Duncan this morning at 7:51 am. Mr. Duncan succumbed to an insidious disease, Ebola. He fought courageously in this battle. Our professionals, the doctors and nurses in the unit, as well as the entire Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas community, are also grieving his passing. We have offered the family our support and condolences at this difficult time.
He was readmitted to the hospital two days later.
Duncan had been facing charges from the Liberian government and Dallas D.A. for document and immigration fraud, Friends in Liberia said Duncan knew he had Ebola, and put untold numbers of his fellow passengers, friends, family and strangers in danger before being hospitalized.
It is estimated Duncan had contacted 50-70 people during that time frame. So far no other individuals have shown symptoms as a result of Duncan’s exposure in the Dallas area.
Family members of Duncan remain under quarantine. The family hasn’t showed symptoms of the virus and will remain under monitoring and isolation until October 19.
The Obama Administration has come under withering criticism for failing to enact flight restrictions on passengers coming from Ebola-affected “hot zones” in Africa. As I reported last week, despite the the White House’s assertion that African “screening” for passengers using temporal thermometers was “sufficient,” experts demonstrated how using simply Ibuprofen (Advil) can defeat those scanners long enough to gain access to a flight, for those desperate enough to make the journey.
As Top Right News also reported on October 5th Duncan lied on his travel documents in order to board a plane in Liberia on September 19, arriving in Dallas the following day. He reported feeling ill on September 24 and sought care at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital the next day. Doctors released Duncan with a prescription for antibiotics on September 26.
He was readmitted to the hospital two days later.

The Same Day an Ebola Patient Dies in Dallas, Deputy Who Investigated His Home Checks Into Hospital
By Kevin Boyd 34 mins ago
A Dallas County Sheriff’s deputy has been checked into the hospital after feeling ill after entering the home of an Ebola patient in Dallas. http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Fri...278555081.html
The Huffington Post has more: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/1...n_5954454.html
NBC Dallas-Fort Worth reported that the person showing symptoms is an employee of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, and had been in the apartment Duncan was staying in before he was hospitalized Sept. 28. Duncan passed away Wednesday morning.
WFAA reported that the patient is Sgt. Michael Monnig, and that Monnig went into the apartment unit without wearing protective gear in order to have a quarantine order signed.
(October 8) At 12:32 p.m. today, October 8, Frisco dispatch received a call from Care Now, 301 Main Street, regarding a patient exhibiting signs and symptoms of Ebola. The patient claims to have had contact with the Dallas ‘patient zero’. Frisco firefighter-paramedics are in the process of transporting the patient. They are also in the process of examining clinical staff and other facility patrons. That number other people impacted is unknown. No other information is confirmed, available at this time.
Just as a reminder, Ebola is not known to be transmitted through the air or water. It is known to be transmitted through contact with bodily fluids such as blood, urine and vomit.
The early symptoms of Ebola are similar to the symptoms of the flu. However, it can also go undetected in a person before symptoms begin to show.
As the story develops, we will bring you more information.

as usual this administration had not taken this seriously and to get them to what is right is worse than pulling teeth. they also seem to be ignoring who is crossing our borders. due to the continued lies issued by our government i am sure the confidence of this administration will continue its downward spiral.
