tattoo ban
US Army set to ban forearm, leg tattoos,
even if they're totally sweet
Well, it sounds like Vanilla Ice won't get drafted. U.S. Army Secretary John McHugh has reportedly approved a change to the Army's existing appearance regulations, one that would ban tattoos that are inked on "the forearm, below the knee, or above the neckline." (Current regulations only ban tats above the neckline or below the wrist.) Although current soldiers' tats would be grandfathered in, they will have to "self-identify" each of their existing tattoos to their unit leaders (ensuring that they won't be able to sneak a new design onto the underside of their wrist or something). Not only that, but if any current soldier has a tattoo that is deemed to be offensive — "racist, sexist or extremist" — they will have to pay out of pocket to have it removed.
