Following a meeting with Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang today at the White House, President Barack Obama seemed to offer praise for communist revolutionary Ho Chi Minh as someone “inspired” by America’s Founding Fathers, the PJ Tatler reports.

During the Oval Office meeting, Obama says he and Sang “discussed the challenges that all of us face when it comes to issues of human rights,” referring to Vietnam’s sordid record on the issue. “And we had a very candid conversation about both the progress that Vietnam is making and the challenges that remain.”

When it was time to leave, Sang reportedly offered Obama a gift — a “copy of a letter sent by Ho Chi Minh to Harry Truman.”

…And that’s where things get dicey.

“And we discussed the fact that Ho Chi Minh was actually inspired by the U.S. Declaration of Independence and Constitution, and the words of Thomas Jefferson. Ho Chi Minh talks about his interest in cooperation with the United States,” Obama said. ”And President Sang indicated that even if it’s 67 years later, it’s good that we’re still making progress.”

That’s odd — I don’t remember anything in the Declaration of Independence about prison camps for political detractors or the Constitution’s provisions about the systematic extermination of class enemies in a “red holocaust.” Would Thomas Jefferson have approved of Minh’s policy of isolation which left hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese to starve to death?

Furthermore, does Barack Obama know anything about why the U.S. fought in the Vietnam War in the first place?

Sang, meanwhile, described the leaders’ conversation as “very candid, open, useful and constructive.” Swell.

And, Obama holds ramadan dinners and praises Ho while we are sitting at 14% real unemployment and while he is creating two new food stamp recipients for every “job” created…yep, eye on the ball, for sure – the “Transformation” ball, that is.

All that aside, Ho did in fact claim to have learned a lot by studying the U.S. Founders, but lt’s look at how he applied what he learned.

Our Founders freed the people (ok, not everyone- but they started that ball rolling, progressively) from an oppressive government with a despot who has a penchant for having opposing voices permanently silenced.

Ho enslaved the Vietnamese people to an oppressive Communist government and became a despot with a penchant for having opposing voices permanently silenced.

I can see how literally anyone could get the two confused. o_O.

Maybe… just maybe.. a little more schooling is in order here. This time, try to find history teachers actually teaching “true fact” history, rather than their “untrue fact” Communist-friendly version of it.

…oh, and English teachers teaching English…

I would like to know more about the Vietnam War and what really happened. I know some of what the Vietnamese people are taught in their schools but our schools taught very little to nothing. I can tell you what I was taught is not the real truth from either side.

I was taught that Ho Chi Minh wanted Vietnam to have the same government as America. He tried all avenues to get his country back from France so they could be a free nation. Then something happened with the elections that was going on. France was trying to get their person in charge, the CIA had someone they were trying to get in charge. We bought the votes and it turned into a big mess. Long story short to get his country free he had to go the communism route because that was the only way he saw of getting the Vietnamese people on his side.

That is the very short version of what I was taught. Yet it is to hard to find the actual truth because people have their own agenda they are trying to push off.

What you were taught is very close to what I know and what the truth I think is.

One should know that the regime under Ho was not necessary to be the same regime as in Vietnam now. Ho was head of Democratic Republic of Vietnam (1945-1969) when his communist and nationalist liberation movement successfully wiped-out French control from the North in 1945. The regime in VN now is Socialist Republic of Vietnam which is named in 1976 after the country was reunited in 1975. I did not say that the two regimes above are totally difference but I would argue that they are not the same though sharing the core communist ideology/ moment inside. I wonder if Ho was still alive until now, then would he agree to change his regime to Socialist state as of now, and would he agree with the way country being managed today? We would never know the answer but I guess that he would not agree. His only intention was to liberate the country from colonies; it explained why he sent the letter to Harry Truman asking for help.

It needs to be mentioned that Ho was died in 1969 which was far away from 1975 when the VN war ended and the new government established for VN (North and South and Ho in fact was struggling for power in North VN long before he died, there was many fights for power inside the North VN regime until today I believe.

When the Vietnamese were fighting for independence from France, Ho Chi Minh appealed to Dwight Eisenhower for support. Minh believed that we (the U.S.) would support their cause, since we knew what it was like to throw off the yoke of a colonial power. We basically told Minh and the rest of the Vietnamese to go fudge themselves. After France pulled out Vietnam was temporarily separated into two nations, North and South. They were supposed to hold elections to see who the people wanted to lead a unified Vietnam. The South (being ruled by a pro-West dictator) reneged, thus setting off the Second Indochina War (a.k.a. the Vietnam War).

Ok, one must assume it was a case of serious presidential brain flatulence, but as soon as I heard Barack Obama say these words I could not help but flinch. If he was a Republican president, the media would be lampooning the words of a man clearly not in possession of the intellectual powers the office demands. An odd moment to be sure…

POTUS said people can still take vacation, just do so in a “prudent way” by checking on the State Department Websites for up-to-day information before making plans.

“The odds of dying in a terrorist attack are a lot lower than they are of dying in a car accident, unfortunately.”

So apparently Barack Obama thinks it would be less fortunate for more Americans to die of terrorist attacks? Or more should die of terrorist attacks than car accidents? The president is trying so very hard to sound intelligent here, and then says something that is simply asinine. He does this often of course, but the media has, and will continue, to ignore these many verbal contradictions and stupidities as they just don’t fall in line with the false narrative this same media has constructed around Barack Obama since he emerged on the national stage almost a decade ago. Then again, perhaps the president was still recuperating from his boys only birthday celebrations at Camp David? -UM
