Charles Manson Caught With Cell Phone in Prison
Report: Charles Manson Caught With Cell Phone in Prison
AOL News
(Dec. 3) -- Perhaps he was just calling for a friendly chat.
But when Charles Manson was caught with a cell phone under his mattress, prison guards couldn't be so sure.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Manson made calls and sent texts to California, New Jersey, Florida and British Columbia before guards found the contraband phone.

Charles Manson, seen here in March 2009, is serving a life sentence for murder.
It's not clear whom the convicted killer was dishing with over his LG flip phone, but Terry Thornton, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Corrections, told the Times it was "troubling that he had a cellphone since he's a person who got other people to murder on his behalf."
According to the paper, cell phones are increasingly easy to come by in California's prisons, and there have been documented cases of guards bringing phones into prisons and giving them to inmates, which is illegal.
Manson is serving a life sentence at Corcoran State Prison for the 1969 "Helter Skelter" murders of actress Sharon Tate and six other people.

Wow I knew inmates could get drugs in prison, but cell phones? Can't they just block all cell phone transmissions in prisons? There has to be a high tech solution for this.

-
yeah, but then I guess the prison guards and others couldn't use theirs in case of an emergency

You know this is common in prisons..cell phones, drugs, smokes etc. The prison here in Lima, people will throw softballs over the fence that have been unstitched, hollowed out, filled with whatever, restitched and tossed, then the inmates will go get them while they are out in the yard. We know someone who was lodged there for a little while, he was telling us about how easy it is to get stuff in prison.

And if you, the common average citizen, knows this, than I'm sure the prison does... and can continuously be on the look out for this happening, if they wanted to.

They can & are in the process of trying it out in one state, I believe. It's so simple for any inmate to obtain anything their lil hearts desire. If the price is right a CO or another staff of a prison will bring it in.. Death row inmates have been found with cell phones in TX. They cannot have physical contact with whoever visits, it's all behind glass..It's only common sense how & where these inmates are getting phones, drugs, cigs, & whatever.
I don't find him interesting at all. A lot of women do & are in lust over this creepy, psychotic monster. I think its mostly for the 15 minutes of shame...oooops. I mean fame.

Don't worry about what people think. They don't do it very often.

I work in a prison, and I can tell you that with the wages officers are paid there, it's easy to see how they would risk their jobs to bring in a cellphone for an inmate...inmates pay $500 for a $20 tracfone from Walmart. No one in the prison, either as an inmate or staff, is allowed to have cellphones in the facility except the warden and assistant wardens.
It's only kinky the first time.
