    Casual Sex Increasing in U.S.

    Casual Sex Increasing in U.S.

WEDNESDAY, April 7 (HealthDay News) -- People in nonromantic sexual relationships today are likely to have multiple partners, researchers have found, and that behavior could promote the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, they note. "The United States has seen a major shift toward nonromantic sexual partnerships -- people becoming sexually involved when they are just casually dating or not dating at all," study author Anthony Paik, a sociologist at the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, said in a university news release.

He and his colleagues asked 783 heterosexual adults, ages 18 to 60, how many people they had been sexually involved with during their most recent nonromantic sexual relationship and found:

17 percent of the men and 5 percent of the women said they had been with someone other than their relationship partner.

17 percent of women and 8 percent of men said they'd been exclusive but their partner had not.

12 percent of women and 10 percent of men said neither they nor their partner had been monogamous.

Being sexually involved with a friend increased the likelihood of not being monogamous by 44 percent for women and 25 percent for men. Involvement with an acquaintance or stranger increased the likelihood by 30 percent for women and 43 percent for men.

Respondents who got along with each other's parents were less likely to have multiple sex partners. This may be because people are less likely to risk a relationship when they consider the impact on family, Paik said.

The findings were published in the March issue of Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health.

"People can make their own choices, but we hope this information will be useful as they weigh the risks and rewards of nonromantic sexual relationships," Paik said. "We encourage people to be aware of the potential for sexual concurrency and take appropriate precautions to avoid sexually transmitted infections."

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has more about sexually transmitted diseases.

What happened to the good ol' fashioned days when you wait until you are married? I did have a child out of marriage but we can't just go around sleeping with the whole world. People shouldn't just sleep with someone they met in a bar, or in a grocery store, while driving down the freeway, in a community corrections office.

As new generations get older, the standards and morals seem to decline.
We need to set a good example for these young people so they don't go out and have sex with everyone. Same with drugs. Same with school. If you set a good example for your child, they are much more likely to repeat what they've seen.

Our next generation is going to run the world eventually. We need them to be well-educated and know right from wrong, as well as a good set of morals and standards so our country won't fail as a whole (even more).
    And so do STD's
Choose to sin , Choose to suffer.
Masturbation is where it's at. The STD rates in this country are nauseating. Face it, folks...the orgasms you can give yourself are just as good as the ones you get with a partner. Why subject yourselves to the STD risk, not to mention the pregnancy risk, the "relationship" and "commitment" risk? Why put up with all of the drama and why waste all of the money you spend trying to get someone to into bed?

So glad I'm a world-class masturbator. As for sex with a partner, I'm holding out for Star Trek-quality androids or a Holodeck.
We can't stop sex. We were created this way. We are the only species that engage in sex for more than reproduction. We do it for fun!!
There is nothing wrong with it as long as people are smart in how they do it. Having unprotected sex is not smart. We know this and as we get older and lose that feeling of being invincible we realize the error of our ways. Most of you actually criticize people for doing something you did in your youth. Instead of criticizing people why not try and educate them. Having protected sex is smart and fun. Those of you who call having sex a sin probably can’t get laid so you justify it by saying you’re follower of God. If God didn’t want us to have sex he wouldn’t have made it feel so damned good.
    .
Used to be a female who screwed around was just called a skank...think nowdays she has to be married and cheating to get promoted to that....as for MILF's and COUGAR's yes unlike unicorns they do exist...
... to have sex is the normalst thing of the world. only for some special people wich means they have to discribe a morality(what is moral?? who has the right to say thats good ort not)) have a problem with this. so, go out there , have fun...live is too short. its naturally thing...nothing more else....

How long have we been talking about AIDs and STDs and so on and so forth ??
Laissez les bon temps rouler! Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.** a 4 day work week & sex slaves ~ I say Tyt for PRESIDENT! Not to be taken internally, literally or seriously ....Suki ebaynni IS THAT BETTER ?
