    Utah grasshoppers

    http://www.asylum.com/2009/06/30/uta...er-invasion%2F

Do we have anyone who lives in Utah? How awful would this be? I remember going to the Florida keys and having love bugs come in all the windows, years ago of course when we always had the windows open. It was so scary and terrible. I can't imagine having grasshoppers everywhere plus the destruction they would do. My sister used to have a tree in her front yard and at a certain time in the summer worms would fall out of the tree. I am not an outdoorsy type. Yes I like sitting on a deck looking at the river or going to the beach but I hate the insects and the sunburns. Has anyone experienced the grasshoppers. I think it has happened several times before in my lifetime. Oh we used to have what we called June bugs too.

In "Sure Signs of the Apocalypse" news, over 250,000 acres in Tooele County, Utah, have become infested with hungry grasshoppers, which hatched a few weeks ago and have started invading the suburbs.

And the worst is yet to come, with the grasshoppers expected to grow in size and number as the summer wears on, devouring everything in their path. "I'd call this the closest that I've seen to a plague in a long time," said Mitch Halligan, whose yard is literally blanketed by the pests, up to 2,000 insects per square foot.

Halligan's neighbor has been forced to use the back entrance to his home since the grasshoppers took over his front door. The hoppers have even found their way into another resident's house and car. "I think you could say it's the worst ever in Tooele County," said Linden Greenhalgh, who is leading the effort to rid the insects by spraying poison on hatching grounds.

Experts aren't exactly sure why the grasshoppers decided to invade Utah this year. Some say it's because of a particularly rainy June following several dry years. Others say it's because the grasshoppers heard the skiing was amazing.

I'm glad they're not here. I feel for the people that are going through that.

I'm from Utah, I remember when I was about 6 or 7 we were going on vacation and we stopped at a rest area, grasshoppers were flying everywhere and the ground was just covered with them, you couldn't walk without stepping on on them, but the part i remember most was my mom picking them out of my hair(while I screamed lol) my hair was really long and they kept getting tangled up in it.
