That is horribly irresponsible. If you are not willing to have a child....dont have sex. We all know that this is the main function of sexual intercourse. If we choose to have sex and we are not ready to have children, even if we used contraception we should still not be able to end a life for our own convenience.

My wife thought of this example..Try calling your local ASPCA or Vets office and tell them that you let your cat run the streets and she got pregnant and that you cant take care of the kittens and want to know where you can get your cat an abortion. People would act like you were nuts!!! You let the cat out, you knew it could get pregnant.

But why is it that people can get abortions but animals cant?

I'm 37. DH is 43. We've been married 14 years. We have 2 boys whom we love to bits. But we are done having kids. DH got the big V 6 years ago but even that isn't 100% effective. Do you really expect me to tell DH that we will not have sex again for the next 13 some odd years untl I'm post menopausal on the off chance that we may end up with an unwanted pregnancy?

The main function of sexual inercourse may be having children in your opinion but for DH and I the main function is to express our loving relationship as husband and wife in a physical manner. In 14 years of marriage we've only had sex a handful of times for the purpose of getting pregnant. I don't know any couples who have sex only to have a baby and I don't know any couples who don't have sex at all simply because they don't want to have any more children.

That is not at all what I said I have been married for almost 16 years and my wife and I have 2 kids. We have NEVER used contraception and we enjoy a very healthy sex life. But we use common sense and a sort of rhythm method. I mean common sense tells me if I complete the transaction while still in...We have a MUCH greater chance of conception.

Not all people have a moral/religious worldview but even if you dont how can you say that if you were pregnant again you would want the option of an abortion? I just cant comprehend that. If my dog were rabid I wouldnt want to put it down. I would because that is part of my responsibility. I was a soldier during the original desert storm/shield, I never had to kill anyone (thank God) and wouldnt want to but I know that I could if I had to. But I could NEVER have anything to do with putting to death an unborn child.

I also at this time in my life know that I dont want more kids so If I am taking appropriate measures and my wife still gets pregnant I would view that as the will of God and rejoice.

And if you are really adamant that you dont want kids you should take all necessary precautions. Your husband had the big V (youch) why not get your tubes tied and get that subdermal 7 year implant? IF you did all of that and still Got pregnant? WOW. Noone could say you werent responsible, but I still would think WHAT a blessing as the odds of conception in such a scenario are incomprehensible.
