Butts faces jail for stealing toilet paper

A woman called Butts is facing three years in jail for stealing loo roll from her local courthouse.
Suzanne Butts' case has been dubbed the "toilet paper caper" in Marshalltown, Iowa, where she lives.
She's accused of stealing just three rolls of two-ply but faces prison because it's her third theft offence.
Police said they caught Butts outside the courthouse hiding the toilet paper in her shirt.
"They said they seem to go through a lot of toilet paper at the courthouse," said Marshalltown Police Chief Lon Walker, who said she faced jail under the state's "three strikes and you're out" rule.
Court car park attendant Gene Seim said: "I've heard they call it the toilet paper caper."

Seriously now. You gotta wonder if the court system can really cope with trivial cases like this when more serious crimes are waiting.

I thought about that but ya know what, a third offense is a third offense. Someone who steals cars and gets caught twice, on the third offense they steal a candy bar, should they not still get the maximum, it is after all their third offense.....Just a thought!!
