Then you have nothing to worry about; do you NAVY PRIDE?

what a complete irony......with him of all people questioning moralilty at the confirmation hearings
So, it's not like he's running for President or even representing your state.

I would not say that exactly. The Democrats are imploding because they have no power in Washington and President Bush is running all over them.

One of our State Senators just changed his party alliance. He was a democrat....he is now a republican.

Re: Ted Kennedy Disgraces Democrats
Where have you all been? You are actually bragging that Bush is the President. And then you say he has run all over the democrats they have no authority, well you said I didn't. So basically that means the Shrub has to take the blame and there is plenty to go around.
NY times reporting today the white house knew about the levees breaking earlier than reported that means that the Katrina victims were known about much earlier and they meaning the shrub aka President Bush and that incompetent horse fellow he appointed over such an important job did nothing even earlier than reported. Please tell the Katrina victims what a great job your President did. They must have missed that while they were dying of thirst and want of food and lack of medicines and decent shelter and they were the lucky ones, the rest drowned or suffocated inside their attics. You say that was not your president's fault, well he is the ****** who appointed this man head of fema. He also cut funding for the levees.

The war, no WMD's, and there is proof that Bush and company knew that (see downing street memo, equal to a white house memo) and you all get all tore up over Clinton lying over a sexual encounter, gee I would hire someone for Bush myself if it would make him a better President. Over 2000 American military personnel dead, almost 20,000 wounded and over a 100,000 dead Iraqi civilian men, women and children and oh I'm sorry, you would prefer no one mention them.
The corruption that has gone on during this administration is pitiful. Abramoff is said to have paid off quite a few republicans and you guys still have the audacity to brag about this President and his administration. Now that is funny! ROTFLMAO Please keep bragging but wait until my side stop hurting from the laughter, ok go ahead!

Re: Ted Kennedy Disgraces Democrats
Uh.....this thread is about Ted Kennedy. How did we get back to Katrina? As for who is to blame for this...MOTHER NATURE. The first of the blame goes to the Mayor of NO and the Governor of LA. They did not do their part to evacuatte their city....Neither implemented their states contingency plan in the event of such a possible catastrophe. They did not evacuate their city. I also place part of the blame on the people of NO themselves.
I sat here watching tv, The Weather Channel and Fox and all the other news stations, including our local news. They all had the same message. GET OUT!! The mayor and the Governor BOTH told people to leave the city. They told the people that would be going to the shelters..."Bring food, water and medicines to last 4-5 days". I sat here and watch the "party" going on in the lines. People empty handed....not even a change of clothing. Once again...people expecting the government (whether local or federal) to take care of them without attempting to take care of themselves. The people that you mentioned that smothered in their attics and drowned? They made a choice....a choice to take their life into their own hands and they lost. They were told to GET OUT!!!
As for FEMA, yes it did fail...won't argue that point, but it would have failed no matter who was in charge. I live in Memphis, TN and I KNEW these people needed to do. My heart breaks for the needless deaths due to ignorance and stupidity (not meaning to speak ill of the dead), but that is the TRUTH. I don't understand why the blame does not fall where it belongs.

Oh, also, the Downing Street Memo is a joke. You cannot make me believe that was nothing but someone "creating" a memo. You don't go through the trouble to get a top secret document, transcribe it and then get rid of the official document...the only piece of evidence to support your claim.

Re: Ted Kennedy Disgraces Democrats
The president appoints the head of FEMA, that is why he is partly to blame, that is not a position that you just appoint someone without experience to. I agree that the local officials are partly to blame they should have recognized that there people living there who are so poor they don't have access to a car, don't have a ready supply of money or the means to evacuate their homes. They should have had the buses out and evacuating these people. They should have had a plan in place to bus out the elderly, the sick, the ones living in poverty.
FYI I had family there in Biloxi, the one niece who did get out with her family said that the storm changed from a category 3 to a 5 in just a matter of three hrs and that it did that in the wee hours of the morning.. If you are used to living there a three is not something you worrry about too much, they are used to the storms, just like here in the mountains we are used to snow storms. She packed and left so quickly her hubby had one shirt the one on his back. They were lucky they were middle class and had the funds and the means to leave. Even then they needed help from family to make it while they waited to go back home.
What you need to realize is that many of those poeple lived in poverty, sure you saw some silly kids on tv going to have a party, kids do that they never take anything seriously, but the majority that stayed had no means of transportation, they had no money, no bank accounts. All they had was a roof over their heads and that was it. These people were as stranded as though they were washed up on an island with no way off.
Ignorance is bliss but the question is can we afford it?
