Took my first box of stuff to the mission.

Well I've started, 1st box, pretty small, but I've got the mismatched bowls all different sizes so they don't stack well and take up way to much room out of here. Threw in a few mugs that people seem to give as gifts. Going to go through the towels, OMG I realized we got some of these as wedding presents back in the '90s, which either says towels were made much better back then or I just didn't notice how ratty they were getting, probably the later. Sending those to the animal shelter with some very old blankets, I hear they need them all the time, hope they love mauve. Decided to go through the cabinets and take out all the stuff I know we won't eat and put in my reverse Advent box, will start that tomorrow, it's already after noon and I have to take some boxes to the post office. So I'm signing off for now, trying to stick to my new plan of not spending as much time on the sites. Strongly considering deleting my FB, one more political post and I will lose my mind.

People have become so hateful on FB, I don't want to unfriend them but so many have become shockingly negative and I found myself following along. I was amazed at some of the stuff I wrote, I went in and deleted many of my posts, I am unhappy with what is going on in the world today but I was just adding to the problem. The negativity just sucks you in. FB used to be a happy place. Now the elections are over here in IL I'll give it some time to settle.

I looked in my cabinets and asked what have we done. While cleaning out my FIL house we brought so much home that we didn't need. I am actually stunned at the volume. I will be boxing up a bunch of stuff to take to the salvation army or the other charities that accept home goods. We were able to donate so much while cleaning out the house why oh why did I think we needed to bring this stuff home!!

Thank You. I just didn't realize what we were doing by bringing all this home. Yes, it is going out the door. When you lose someone you want to hang on to things to remember them by, things that made you happy, now they are just clutter that makes you unhappy.
I will get busy and get packing.

Dropped off 4 boxes yesterday, I've kept the boxes from stuff I was ordering from Sams and we look like hoarders. LOL Ready to start another box. I have 5 count them 5 roasting pans!!! Getting rid of 3 and that is just the beginning, more coffee cups have to go, we drink out of the same ones every day and I'm paring down my glassware, holy cripes, I have 8 huge glasses, 8 highball type glasses, and 8 juice glasses that match, I'm leaving 4 of each and packing the rest away in the basement, this way they only take one shelf, then I have a bunch that doesn't match anything and they are going. I'm tired of the delicate stuff I haven't used since we moved here 13 years ago and so many plastic containers that are stained and don't have matching lids.

I need to go through cupboards so badly. I know I can clear a LOT of space on shelves with unused glassware. Several years ago we bought a bunch, but we just don't use it. And shelf goods - too many cans, and I can't always find what I want/need when I look. Clothes - things I haven't worn since I retired from working in an office (not to mention, grew out of...sigh). Will start thinning out, and follow your good example.

How is it going? Now that it has cooled off I'm going to start going through boxes in the garage, WOW the clutter is amazing, it's on shelves so it looks organized. On the bright side I found 2 pairs of jeans I'm almost able to fit into, Lee Riders, not stretch, I like those better but I think everything is now stretch material.

I got sidetracked on my cupboard project this summer, but I'm going to do a little research for locations to drop off food donations for the canned goods. I'm thinking about some creative ideas for some of the glassware that I wanted to get rid of.

Glad to see you found the jeans - Lee Riders are what I prefer, but I have to drop some weight to get back into my jeans!

One of my favorite places to drop off canned goods is our local Senior Center, most seniors won't go to a regular food bank because they are afraid of becoming targets. People find out they are alone and follow them home. I have a couple bags I didn't get there before Thanksgiving so they should go into the Christmas boxes.
I have 3 boxes of 3 ring binders, how in the world did we get so many? Off to Salvation Army they go, I'm sure people still use these things most have never been used.
BTW I can get the jeans buttoned but can't sit down. LOL I think I have a few more pounds to go, if they were stretch I could wear them now.
