Rice sock
Hubs had to go to the Dr for his shoulder and the Dr suggested using a rice sock for heat. I had never heard of a rice sock and the Dr said it was better than a heating pad since it wraps around the affected area. I found an old tube sock poured the cheapest white rice I could find and tied a knot. Microwave it for 3 min and it is amazing. I made one for myself microwaved it and put it at the foot of the bed under the blankets before I go to sleep since it's gotten cold but we don't want to turn on the furnace quite yet.
Keep your hands to yourself, leave other people's things alone, and be kind to one another.

Years ago I bought a dried bean version of this same thing. It had some spices in it also so it was good for the sinuses!

During the mid- to late 1990s, I think, there was a popular product known as the Bed Buddy. It was designed like a long tube sock with a loop handle on each end, and was filled with rice, and used as a microwaved heating pad. It was great for on the shoulders, around the neck, and on the lower back if you could fasten the looped ends together to hold it in place. A friend got a C-shaped one with a pretty fabric for me, and the rice also contained dried lavendar and maybe some lavendar oil mixed in with the rice. It was supposed to be relaxing. They were great little heating pads!
